Be comforted and enveloped in the handmade. Uniqueness, quality and style, crafted in England since 1938.

Welcome

At the heart of Duresta is a talented team of hardworking creative designers and expertly skilled upholsterers. We celebrate our collective wealth of knowledge, skill, and creativity by producing the finest quality furniture.

My Duresta journey started in 1979 as an apprentice in Long Eaton. It was the only place to be taught every aspect of making traditional, handcrafted quality furniture, and this still holds true to this day. After 45 years I am still learning every day.

Upholstering at Duresta is still a passion of mine, and my aim is to produce the very best furniture possible. Only when you produce quality do you understand quality. And, I would like to leave a legacy of quality and design for any future upholsterers.

Our pursuit for comfort and our unwavering dedication to expression, through our design and unique fabrics.

This is Duresta.

Comfort and Form

'The biggest challenge in designing and creating Monte Carlo, I believe, was the relationship between style and comfort, and not compromising one for the other.'

The model, as the name would suggest, needed to be full of elegance, timeless detailing and tailored crisp lines - all synonymous with a Duresta piece. All of this had to marry with a soft, sumptuous sit. This mood was echoed in the mixture and layers of materials featured on Monte Carlo.

The use of tasteful metal finishes, dark woods and crisp fluting lines, inspired by the linear architecture of Monte Carlo, helps to cocoon and cradle an easy, relaxing sit furthered with the use of soft chenille fabrics - adding subtle detail is a must for me as a designer. Features including the pulls to the centre of the outside flutes, piping to accentuate the silhouette and Duresta branding to the metal plinths finish the piece.

Design,

The handmade touch

All our exquisite Duresta collections are meticulously handcrafted in our Nottinghamshire-based factory. With unparalleled attention to detail from our skilled upholsterers, Duresta embodies the essence of true British craftsmanship.

'To develop a collection for the Duresta brand is a truly special experience. Encapsulated in the brand’s deep history of craftsmanship and artistry, the approach to fabrics becomes intertwined and inherent to the very nature of our product and of its story.'

As Duresta we have the fortune to source textiles from specialists across the globe. We have forged (developed) strong, meaningful relationships with weavers who understand our brand and collaborate with pride to become part of the product we present to you. From this, we bring the very finest of fabrics to market.

We invest in a collection with a sense of the Atelier, bringing artistry in jacquard velvet, spray dying, metallics and specialist yarns to assemble products that are unique. We meet with the best suppliers, enabling us to engage in the latest trends and embrace their expertise, in harmony with our own creative.

And from this the journey begins. Working towards a collection that combines our love of making true British designed furniture with our passion for special textiles.

Each fabric that has been introduced to our collection has been meticulously selected based on current trends in the marketplace, performance and also the uniqueness of patterns, colours and textures. We strive to be unique, producing designs that create fabulous looks that can only be curated by Duresta.

Quality, care, supreme comfort, and undeniable style has always been at the forefront of Duresta.

A proud Heritage

Duresta has been market leader in the furniture making industry since it was established in 1938, in Nottinghamshire. Over the past 80 years Duresta has been consistently producing exquisite furniture that has been meticulously designed, expertly hand-crafted and beautifully finessed. Quality, care, supreme comfort, and undeniable style have always been at the forefront of Duresta, and these values remain at the core of the business today.

Steeped in history, Harrington Mill, Long Eaton, is the furniture making hub and a place we're proud to call home.

Since being built in 1885, Harrington Mills - originally a lace-making mill - has been at the heart of the furniture industry. In 2023 we returned to our ‘home’, building a beautiful showroom to house all our luxurious furniture.

This is how we will look and feel...
Defined by Comfort. A statement of fact and truth.

It should be a given that Duresta sofas or chairs are comfortable. For Duresta, comfort is a differentiator due to the level of care and the quality in which a Duresta is made. True craftsmanship in pursuit of creating the best. Today, and as it’s always been. It’s also the main reason for purchasing a sofa - to have something to sit on that is comfortable. It is, therefore, the ultimate focus of the brand.

Devoted

to Expression.

An emotive, broader conversation.

Why would you buy Duresta? To be able to create a sofa or chair that represents your own tastes and personality. The dedication we have in designing our sofas, selecting our fabric collections, working with the finest mills around the world, and creating products that enable our customers to create a statement piece of furniture. A sofa is a practical item, but it’s also a personal choice within someone’s personal space and we help provide that expression.
