Non-metal ductworks indicated by requirements in this section and on drawings. Non-metal ductwork types specified in this project: Fabric air dispersion system.
1.2 Definitions: 1.2.1 1.2.2
Fabric Air Dispersion System: End air dispersion system made of fire resistant woven fabric, and suspension system. Third Party Performance Test: Verification test performed by nationally accredited independent testing organization in accordance to national and regulatory bodies’ standards
1.3 Quality Assurance: Quality Control 1.3.1 1.3.2 1.3.3 1.3.4
Fabric shall be inherent fire resistant IFR. Fire retardant treated fabric is not acceptable. Manufacturing facilities shall have a quality management system certified by accredited organization in accordance to ISO9000 series standards. Manufacturing facilities shall be environmental friendly and certified by accredited organization in accordance to ISO14000 series standards Manufacturer shall have documented design support, including duct layout, dimension, vent and orifice information, suspension systems. Other design parameters including fabric permeability, working temperature range, optimum air velocity, airflow, and static pressure shall also be take into consideration.
Standards and code compliance 1.3.5
Product shall be classified by Underwriter’s Laboratories under AJIJ “Distribution Device, Air”. It shall also be classified by Underwriter’s Laboratories in accordance with ICC Evaluation Service AC167 and UL Subject 2518.

It shall meet the latest revision NFPA 90A requirement, generating flame spread and smoke developed index less than 25/50 respectively when evaluated in accordance to UL723 and CAN / ULC S102, latest revision.

Manufacturer’s specifications on both material and finished product. Documentation for compliance with NFPA 90-A, latest revision, showing flame spread and smoke developed index less then 25 / 50 respectively when tested in accordance to both UL723 and CAN / ULC S102, latest revision.
1.5 Warranty: 1.5.1
Manufacturer shall provide at least 10 year product warranty. Prorated warranty is not acceptable.
1.6 Delivery: 1.6.1 1.6.2
Fabric air dispersion system shall be properly packaged during shipping, handling and storage to prevent damage Product shall be stored in indoor location, and protected from weather.
2. Products 2.1 Acceptable Manufacturers: DurkeeSox Fabric Air Dispersion System Ltd. These Specifications are based on products and data of DurkeeSox (Tel: (206) 639-2889, http://www.durkeesox.com) and designated type and quality of work intended under this section. Other manufacturer’s products proposed as equivalent must be submitted for written approval by the specifying engineer ten business days prior to the bidding date. Published specifications, supporting technical data, samples, and the like must also be submitted for comparison. The contractor should ensure that proposed alternative products will be equivalent to the product specified herein.
2.2 Fabric: NanoSox Air dispersion system shall be constructed of a woven fabric NanoSox that comply with following physical characteristics

Fabric shall be the inherent fire resistant woven fabric NanoSox. Treated and / or laminated fabric is NOT acceptable. Fabric shall meet flame and smoke requirement of NFPA90 and ULC S102 standards. The flame spread index tested shall be less than 5, and no dripping flame balls when subject to flame. Fabric shall be constructed of 100% inherent fire resistant polyester yarn. Fabric weight shall be 6.5 oz/yd2 (200 g/m2) tested per ASTM D3776, latest revision. Fabric shrinkage shall be less then 0.5%. Fabric permeability: 0, 0.5, 2, 6, 16, and customized (all + - 5%) per ASTM D737. Standard colors: White, Red, Blue, Gray, Green, Yellow, Beige, Light Grey, Black

Air is discharged through mesh vent, linear vent and / or fabric permeation. Location and dimension of vents shall be approved by manufacturer. Inlets are to be connected to metal duct via anchor patches supplied by manufacturer. Zip screw fastener used for secure inlet anchor patches are to be supplied by contractor. Zipper connection shall be used to connect inlet, end cap and duct segments when deemed necessary by manufacturer for easy removal and maintenance. System shall include connectors to attach to suspension system listed below.

Fabric air dispersion system shall only be used for positive pressure situation in the mechanical ventilation system. System shall not be used in concealed space. System shall be designed to work with inlet static pressure from 70 Pa, or 0.25” water gage to 750 Pa, or 3” water gage, with standard pressure of 120 Pa, or 0.5” water gage. Designed temperature shall be between -53℃ – 100℃ (-63℉ – 212℉). System length, diameter, static pressure and airflow shall be approved by manufacturer.
2.5 Suspension System: 2.5.1 Galvanized Tension Cable: Suspension system consists of one row or two rows of plastic coated galvanized cables located 25mm to 100mm (1” to 4”) above fabric duct mounting points. Mounting points shall locate at 12

o’clock (for single row suspension), and options of 10, 2 o’clock, and 9, 3 o’clock positions (for double row suspension). Distance between clips shall not exceed 609mm (24”). Double row suspension is recommended for ducts with diameter larger than 610 mm (24”). Cable and accessories include eye bolts, turnbuckles, cable clamps, gripple hanger shall be supplied by manufacturer. Mounting bracket at both ends of tension cables shall be supplied by contractor. 2.5.2 Stainless Steel Tension Cable: Suspension system consists of one row or two rows of stainless steel cables located 25mm to 100mm (1” to 4”) above fabric duct mounting points. Mounting points shall locate at 12 o’clock (for single row suspension), and options of 10, 2 o’clock, and 9, 3 o’clock positions (for double row suspension). Distance between clips shall not exceed 609mm (24”). Double row suspension is recommended for ducts with diameter larger than 610 mm (24”). Cable and accessories include eye bolts, turnbuckles, cable clamps, gripple hanger shall be supplied by manufacturer. Mounting bracket at both ends of tension cables shall be supplied by contractor. 2.5.3 Suspended H-Track: Suspension system consists of one row or two rows of aluminum H-track with slots on top and bottom, located 25mm to 100mm (1” to 4”) above fabric duct mounting points. Mounting points shall locate at 12 o’clock (for single row suspension), and options of 10, 2 o’clock, and 9, 3 o’clock positions (for double row suspension). Distance between clips shall not exceed 609mm (24”). Double row suspension is recommended for ducts with diameter larger than 610 mm (24”). Track and accessories include track connectors, end-block, vertical support kits, shall be supplied by manufacturer. 2.5.4 Surface mount N-Track: Suspension system consists of one row or two rows of aluminum N-track with slot on the bottom, located 25mm to 100mm (1” to 4”) above fabric duct mounting points. Mounting points shall locate at 12 o’clock (for single row suspension), and two edges of half round ducts (for double row suspension). Distance between clips shall not exceed 609mm (24”). Mounting on the ducts has the option of detachable slide clip or corded edge. Track and accessories include track connectors, end-block, shall be supplied by manufacturer.
2.6 Air Handler Unit: Air handler unit shall provide adequate filter prior entering the fabric duct system.

3. Installation 3.1 Fabric Air Dispersion System Installation: 3.1.1 3.1.2
Exam designated installation space, avoid interference with existing piping, fixtures, and structures. Install suspension system as per manufacturer’s instruction. Installation manual shall be supplied with product by manufacturer.
3.2 Maintenance and cleaning: 3.2.1 3.2.2 3.2.3
Disposable latex gloves are recommended to be worn to prevent soil the product. Air handler and any upstream sheet metal ductwork shall be cleaned, and ensure free of dust and other foreign particles before the fabric air dispersion system is connected. Fabric ducts shall be removed and cleaned in accordance to manufacturer’s guidance if it is soiled before installation finishes.
