QUEENS Come on in... ENJOY Our HOME is Your HOME
editor's note Wow!!! Here we are finally. It took a while to get here, but it was worth the wait. All that is happening at this time is the product of a vision: I affectionately call it: "The QUEEN PROJECT". Why do I call it so; because that is what it is. I know that we've all heard the stories of famous women whose story begins at a humble place, where possibilities of success were non-existent and they beat the odds. As a woman, I have always given thought to the realities of AfroCaribbean women who for the most part come from humble beginnings. I remember my two grandmothers, my own mother, aunts, and so many women who I witness live their lives as best as they knew how. I admired their character, and the question I asked was: "How are these women celebrated; women who are in their own right "GREAT, FEARLESS AND RESILIENT; they were QUEENS!! Royalty runs through their veins; it's the stock they are made of whether or not they wear a crown. These women are the HEROINES who held the torch that light the way so all other women to come could see a little clearer. They were guided by faith; despite the many obstacles and limitations they had. They built the foundation, and set the pace that women who live today can now follow. We cannot deny that the women who have gone before is have helped to make our path clearer in one way or another. In these times, we have so much at our disposal: more knowledge, understanding, and possibilities. We too are QUEENS; we wear a crown, and the time has come to step up and rock that crown. As we bear the NAME, let us also PLAY the GAME...We will honour the women who have gone before, and embrace the faith they left as our legacy. We will be a light for the women of the future... A Priceless Legacy BY ELAINE SIMPSON
I am so excited about where we all are today; for me, it has been twenty years in the making, but God's faithfulness prevailed and after being a dream for so long, it became a vision, and now a reality. A LEGACY IN THE MAKING This story began long before I knew it had. Looking back, I was raised in a Christian home by my parents in Alps, Trelawny. My father was a farmer, and my mother was a dressmaker. I fondly remember Mama being passionate about her talent; in addition to taking care of her family, she taught her skill to several young women in the community. I found it odd that she would teach for free, but as I grew older I realized that her deeds were godly and was written in the Bible. The Scripture at Titus 2:3-5 states: Older women, likewise, are to be reverent in their behavior, not slanderers or addicted to much wine, but teachers of good. 4In this way they can train the young women to love their husbands and children, 5to be self-controlled, pure, managers of their households, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be discredited. Mama was simply honouring her responsibility as an older women to teach younger women. This was a lesson I would learn myself and come to embrace in years to come. CRY OF THE SPIRIT The journey to wholeness began for me in the year 2000; after being a Christian for 12 years prior, I had been baptized in one Church, and later I accepted membership in another church of a different denomination. One thing I vividly remember is that during this time there was unexplainable emptiness that I felt deep within. On December 31, 1999, I remember being at a Watch Night Service. By midnight the emptiness of which I spoke earlier became unbearable. While sitting in my seat, cried out to the Lord. The words He gave me were"You Must Be Born Again". "How could this be, when I had been baptized", I thought. After a conversation with God about what I should do. I was directed by The Holy Spirit to take three days and focus on myself. This was the beginning of the rest of my life. During the time of reflection, the revelation came that: "God desires True Worshippers". Even more important to me was another lesson I learned about the need to be transformed in mind, body and spirit. Soon, I would learn too that I was created for a purpose, but only the Creator of the universe could help me to discover the reason for my existence.

A LEGACY AT STAKE
Legacy Cont'd
During the year 2000, I commited to drawing closer to God; I had realized that my religion did not give me the peace I desire and I just wanted more than I had. Over the next five years I practically dwelled in the presence of God seeking for revelation of what He required of me, and what was the purpose of my life . I was learning many truths about God through the Scriptures; most importantly He revealed the meaning of the passage at Titus 2:3-5. In examining myself, I had been found wanting; in my own relationship with my daughter, I had neglected to provide the godly guidance that she needed to live a life that pleased God. In April 2005, I had an unpleasant dream that involved my daughter; in seeking the Lord for revelation I soon learned that the enemy's plans was to destroy her life. Immediately, I became more fervent in prayer, later, my prayers led me to take a trip to New York. To summarize the visit, I arrived on April 8, a late Friday evening. In the morning I was about have my devotion and invited her to join with me. The rest is history...that morning she met up with God in a way that changed her life forever. I remained with my daughter until August; during this time I strived to be the mother I had needed to be while raising her. I aimed to honour the mandate of Titus 2, to teach her godliness. She received the teaching with humility, and I witnessed her transformation before my very eyes. God was doing a great work in her life and I was delighted that my prayers for her full salvation were answered. In her quest for a closer relationship with God she later discovered her purpose; through her journey, I too became aware of mine. Today we work together and support each other to fulfil the "work prepared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2:10). By extension, the work of my mother (Mama) continues. The vision revealed By God involves His will to connect with all females; we are His daughters and He desires for us to be close to Him so that He can lead us into paths of righteousness, for His name sake. As the years have pass, the vision becomes clearer; as my daughter and I believe in what God has revealed and do works in accordance with faith we can see the faithfulness of God and the details of what was in seen manifest before our very eyes. The fact that you are reading these words is evidence that what God put in our hearts is necessary and possible; I am delighted that you have joined us on the journey to participate in the story that God is writing so you can benefit from the great blessings He has in store for us all as we pursue His righteousness.

THE QUEEN PROJECT History: How It All Started
WORDS BY SHAMELIA SIMPSON-MCKENZIE
TURN ON THE POWER HOW IT ALL HAPPENED
These women helped us to understand that we too have a journey to take, one that is as important and just as valuable as the one they took. The common denominator between their journey and ours is FAITH. THE BEGINNING DAYS Today, as you are reading these words this story has been in motion for over fifteen years. It was April 2005 when the production started. This is a summary of how it began:
EVERYTHING CHANGED the moment my dear mother started to pray. Queens, I can't describe the feeling I had, but what I remember, and know for sure that after that moment...EVERYTHING CHANGED. When I say EVERYTHING, I mean EVERYTHING. Suddenly I had no desire for anything except more of God. I was now at a place where I could not return to where I had been.
My desire was to move forward with God; wherever that would take A MOTHER PRAYS and everything me, I had no idea, but as far as I changes. You have probably met my was concerned the place God mother or possibly you heard me tell would lead me would definitely be a the story of how she prayed for me better place that where I had been. as she was led by the Holy Spirit. Her After all, He had perfectly put the prayers led her to visit me in New universe in place. Surely my life is York, where I was living at the time. nothing for Him to handle. The morning after her arrival, she extended and invitation for me to join her in morning devotion. I was too happy to; since I had neglected my relationship with God. For me, it was a good opportunity to make amends. When my mother is around I am never able to forget that God is important. The visibility of her Bible and Daily Bread is a constant reminder that the spirit need to be attended to. Singled Out | September 2020
A yearning for more led me to discover the book: The Power of the Praying, by: Stormie Omartian. I call it the book that turned on the power". My struggle prior to discovering the book was what am I to say to God when I pray. After reading the book I learned that there were many areas of my life that needed to be addressed and I took Stormie's advise to cover every aspect of my life in PRAYER.
THE QUEEN REVEALED The next challenge I faced was coming to terms with my WOMANHOOD. As I woman I had responsibilities to be a spouse, a mother, a daughter, niece, cousin and friend. How would I be all that while honouring God?
DESIRING MORE In as much as I desired more of God, I really didn't know where to begin in my relationship with Him. My mother had lovingly taught me to always be repentant and seek to be in God's perfect will. As I humbled myself and obeyed her instruction I felt an unexplainable peace in my heart, but I knew that there was more. Soon enough I found a piece of the puzzle.
That prayer was answered through reading Proverbs 31:10-31. The veil fell from my eyes and I finally understood the message. My quest for a standard by which I could live was revealed in the woman in Proverbs 31. She herself, a QUEEN taught her son how to identify a woman who was suitable to be His wife- A VIRTUOUS WOMAN. From this point, the THE QUEEN PROJECT began... See Singled Out Story on Page 16 9

The plans were put in place and the presentation prepared as directed by the Holy Spirit. The venue was Deja Resort on Jimmy Cliff Boulevard in Montego Bay; the date: Saturday February 22, 2020 at 7:00 pm. THE EVENT The theme of the event was Black & White, and every woman adhered to the dress code. There were five women who celebrated birthdays in the month of February; together they cut the Birthday Cake in thanksgiving to God for another year. Later after a presentation delivered by the Hostess, Shamelia, the invitation was extended to the twelve women in attendance to consider taking a new journey as a Daughter of the King. Every woman present accepted the invitation and was crowned for the glory of God. According to the feedback received from the attendees, the evening was a great experience. Celebrating Queens
The Queen Story Continues...
Queens make Queens...Royalties spreading the love A SPECIAL INVITATION EXTENDED After the first Queen event on February 22, 2020, approximately three weeks later the world as we knew it changed. The novel Corona Virus: COVID19 took on a life of its own and in Mid March the island of Jamaica and by extension the whole world was on lock down. A WhatsApp Group had been formed two years prior after a retreat held at Holiday Inn and attended by four women. The group membership increased by eight after the Black & White Event. This medium allowed the Queens to communicate and create a community of Inspired Women.
Above: A picture of the Invitation
For three months life as we knew it came to a screeching halt; no one knew what the future would hold. Yet during the time, a Virtual Book Club was launched and several Queens took the opportunity to participate for the purpose of gaining spiritual strength and insight. The book was: The Power of the Praying Woman by Stormie Omartian. SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE By the time the country was officially re-opened the Queens were ready to celebrate their victory of surviving a pandemic that had claimed many lives in other countries. I am sure each Queen had a renewed faith in their God and King and believed that He deserved all glory, honour and praise. We were at it again; in keeping with the mission of the brand: Virtuous Spring Water to host quarterly Birthday Celebrations in honour of Queens who were born in the months prior. Having missed the month of March, another Birthday Celebration was planned for Queens born in the month of March, April, May and June. This time the theme was Tie & Dye. For sure, a Crowning Ceremony was part of the celebration; all previously crowned Queens had the option to invite two women they desired to share in the experience of being a Daughters of the King. On June 27, 2020, seven other women joined the Queen Family at another special event held at Villa De La Rose in Ironshore, Montego Bay. Undoubtedly another successful and memorable event.

Plan for Success THE BENEFITS OF WORKING WITH A LIFE COACH BY ELAINE SIMPSON
THE PROMISE OF ABUNDANT LIFE Queens deserve the best that life has to offer; in fact, promise of the King. The Bible teaches through the words of Jesus: "I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly...( St. John 10:10) The success we desire and deserve will be ours when we take active steps in the direction of our dreams. With faith and works, we definitely can experience the promise of abundance in every area of our life. PLAN FOR SUCCESS Planning for success is key. We live in a world where there is surplus of everything we can imagine. There is no shortage of knowledge; technology allows us to accomplish tasks that were impossible a decade ago. There are ideas that can be turned into a successful business. I am sure that like me, you want to live a happy and fulfilled life. Some persons know how to find the path to happiness and can report that they are happy. Others may need to learn and grow into the process. In our country, our life experiences are not usually guided; for the most part we are expected to figure things out on our own. AVAILABLE SUPPORT In modern times there are many self help books that help persons to make progress in their lives. Such books have merit in their own right to support a person's desire to enjoy a better life. Success begins with having the mindset to achieve goals. Working with a Life Coach is a great way to make progress in your life. The help that is usually available for persons who need assistance with challenges is counseling. This option is more popular in Jamaica; in this setting, the clients are given advice by the Counselor. While Life Coaching is not yet popular in our culture, it is very effective to help a person gain control and make decisions that will improve their lives.. Life coaching is different from counseling in that the clients receive support to overcome challenges and make progress. benefits. The clients are given the opportunity to examine their lives and decide what strategies can help them to live their lives to the fullest extent.

BODY CARE
Fit for a Queen BY DIANE PRINCE
Queens deserve the best that life offers, but often we do not get to live the life we deserve. Body Love and Body Care are so important to a woman's overall well being; yet, so often, we do so much for others and put ourselves last. Women deserve so much better, especially for all that you do to make life comfortable for others. When a woman treats her body to Tender Loving Care, her body loves her back, and she feels revitalized and energized. Self care is the first and most important care a woman should practice; especially since there are so many benefits to doing so. Our mental, emotional, and physical health depends on the quality time we invest in making sure that our bodies feel and look good. It is true that life sometimes get so busy that we very often overlook this important practice. For me, it took a long time for me to appreciate and understand the need for body care. Over the years I have benefited from being deliberate about taking care of myself. This is the reason I have dedicated my life work to helping women to experience quality body care that they so deserve. Benefits of Self Care and Body Love Studies have proven that self care improves overall health and wellness among humans. Some benefits include: Improves immunity Increases positive thinking Make you less susceptible to stress, depression, anxiety and other health issues Improves your mood. Health Care Habits Make time to go for a walk, run, light jog or home exercise. Meditate or do deep breathing exercise for five minutes. Take a break when you need it. Choose who you spend time with (very important) Plan and Prepare healthy meals; drink plenty of water Develop a regular sleep routine. When setting your schedule, be sure to allow time and even block out time for self care. This can be even spending the day at beach, take yourself to lunch, book an appointment at a spa, this can help you feel like a million dollars without having actually spend a million dollars. It’s all about bringing in little luxuries into our life for your own wellness . HEALTHY Diet WHAT IS A HEALTHY DIET
BY CHRISTINE STEWART-GOOD
A Queen always strives to live enriching lifestyles; our diet falls into this category, so as we desire a happier and healthier life, our eating habit is so important. In this article, we will look at what is a Healthy Diet and the benefits to a Queen. A healthy diet is based on a person’s eating habits and selection of foods that contain nutrients and minerals to supply the body with energy to maintain physical and mental well-being. While work sometimes takes priority over a lot of things in the life of a woman, its best for us to always make the right choice of meals for our health and well-being. The important thing is to build dietary choices around the body's vital nutritional needs. Whether the goal is to improve energy and mood, combat stress or PMS, boost fertility, ease the symptoms of menopause, or even to enjoy a healthy pregnancy, making decisive decisions on nutrition, health and diet can help us to stay healthy and vibrant throughout our ever-changing lives. BALANCED DIET A balanced eating pattern is the foundation of good health. When a woman chooses healthy foods, her body is conditioned to maintain a healthy weight as such as women, we should include a variety of healthy and nutritious foods from all of the food groups, including: Whole grains, fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, low-fat or fat-free dairy and lean protein. There are several benefits to our bodies when we make healthy eating choices and engage in physical activities: Nutrient-rich foods provide energy for women with busy lives and help to reduce the risk of disease. Physical activity helps with muscle strength, balance, flexibility and stress management. Women must be aware that reduced fat dairy products often contain lots of added sugar that can have negative effects on both your health, waistline and hip so avoiding these foods is best. HEALTHY EATING HABITS - NUTRIENT INTAKE A healthy eating plan will regularly include foods that are nutrient-rich such as: Whole-grain bread, whole-wheat cereal flakes, whole-wheat pasta, brown rice or oats. Low-fat or fat-free dairy products including milk, yogurt or cheese; or calcium-fortified soymilk. (Non-dairy sources of calcium for people who do not consume dairy products include calcium-fortified foods and beverages, canned fish and some leafy greens.) Protein foods such as lean meat, poultry, seafood, eggs, beans, lentils, tofu, nuts and seeds. Fruits- fresh, frozen, or dried without added sugars. Colorful vegetables — fresh or frozen without added salt Limit added sugars including, sugar sweetened beverages, candy, cookies, pastries and other desserts. (especially items with refined sugar). THE L.I.V.E. Mandate
BY SHAMELIA SIMPSON-MCKENZIE
A PRICELESS ADVENTURE This is the final article for the first issue of our monthly magazine: Singled Out. I do hope that having digested the content up to this point that you see the vision clearer. You and I are participants in a unique story unfolding. We are part of what God is doing on earth in this season and I believe it is a priceless adventure. There is something great in the making; believe that with all your heart. With all that has been said, all the activities, event, projects, the hand of God is at work.
Through the Inspired Word, the Bible, we are encouraged to: "Study to show yourself approved unto God..." (2 Timothy 2:15) We've heard and even believed that: knowledge is power". I'd like to add: "Accurate Knowledge is Power". There is a case to be made for "Intelligence". By definition the word means: the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills. It is a fact that humans have the ability to learn; yet we also have the responsibility to not only learn, but apply our knowledge. For this particular forum we will adopt the acronym L.I.V.E. to mean: L-iving I-ntelligently F-or E-ternity Our mandate in this season as Queens is to L.I.V.E.
LEAVING NOTHING TO CHANCE BE AN ARTIST We should all want our role to be effective and memorable; it can be; yet it is important to be conscious of what is happening. Our understanding of what is happening and how it is unfolding will come when we make fervent prayers for revelation knowledge. There is no doubt that you want to be faithful to our call and bear fruit according to the Spirit. Queens do not leave anything to chance, we know that the reward we will receive is in the quality of the work we perform. So let us all seek to be deliberate, be attentive, be a guardian of your soul and be careful to nurture the relationship that the King has initiated with you. 28
The word ART is defined as: "an act of expressing feelings, thoughts, and observations". Additionally, an artist is: "a person engaged in an activity related to creating art, practicing the arts, or demonstrating an art". What does it mean to: "Be An Artist"? It means: FEEL, THINK and EXPRESS. Moreso, ENGAGE, CREATE, PRACTICE and DEMONSTRATE. To LIVE a successful LIFE is an ART. As Queens we want to be purposeful so that our life reflects the essence of our Creator. The Universe is designed and functions with intelligence. We know undoubtedly that our God is an intelligent Being. We are made in His image - Let's L.I.V.E... Singled Out | September 2020
