Queen - Gretchen Search

Hi all! I’m Gretchen Search, daughter of Susan and Bill Search, your 2021 Ross County Fair Queen. This fall, I will start my second year at The University of Akron as a biology major. I am a thirteen year 4-H member in the Bubble Gum Gang 4-H Club, I also served on the Ross County Junior Fair Board, the Ohio 4-H Teen Leadership Council, and I was a camp counselor. I have been so blessed to represent everything our fair has to offer over the past year! The title and role of Ross County Fair Queen has afforded me countless opportunities to learn, grow, and meet new people. After traveling all over the state of Ohio to visit fairs, the importance of open-mindedness and exchange of ideas, the need for community, as well as the value of friendship has been deeply ingrained in my being. From my first fair visit at the Portage County Randolph Fair, to the Millersport Sweet Corn Festival, and the Ohio Fair Managers Association Queen Pageant, I have made friends and memories that will last a lifetime. Some thanks are in order to all my friends, mentors, advisors, my court, and my family. You have all made a great ipression on my character and development, and I will always be thankful for your presence in my life. The simultaneous feelings of shock, rush, and relief when hearing my name called as the 2021 Ross County Fair Queen will never wear away. If I have learned anything over this past year, it is that there is no other fair like ours! The Ross County Fair has always felt like coming home, and I am forever grateful to have been able to experience it with all of you.

King - Cannon Mitchell

Hello! My name is Cannon Mitchell and I am the 2021 Ross County Fair King. Since my crowning last year, I have been attending Ohio University in Athens as a pre-medical science major. Once I’m done with my Bachelor’s Degree, I plan on attending OSU to get my M.D. and eventually become a cardiothoracic (heart and chest) surgeon. I am a five-year member of the Southeastern FFA, a two-year member of Turnback 4-H club, a one-year Ross County JFB member, and I was also involved in Quiz Bowl, Key Club, and National Honor Society. During my time as king, I have learned a lot, and one of the biggest things that I have learned is that there is no place quite like Ross County. This area is just so unique and wonderful, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. During my time being involved with the King and Queen activities, I have been to several fairs and festivals across Ohio, and it has been an absolute honor to represent what I would consider to be the best fair in the state. I want to thank all of the members of the Junior Fair Board and Senior Fair Board for putting together all of these events every year, I would like to thank my 4-H club advisor, Cheryl Turner for tossing the idea to me to run for king, my family and friends for supporting me during my run for the position and after I won, and a big thanks to anyone else who I haven’t mentioned who has helped me to become the person I am today. I want everyone to have a wonderful fair this year, thank you!
