Assigning seats via a seating plan makes things run smoother and allows staff to easily locate guests for the plated dinner service. Make sure you’re aware of the shape and size of your venue’s tables to ensure you know what you’re working with before you start planning. Most couples opt for a top table with their wedding party around them, but you could also plump for a sweetheart table to allow you some time for just the two of you. If you do, we recommend spreading out your wedding party out to host the other tables, grouping them with partners and mutual friends. Table numbers are a functional and decorative feature for your tablescape and a great way to add some height and levels to your layout. Your table numbers will be the next step for guests after they’ve consulted the seating plan so make them nice and clear to read from a distance. Don’t use small or confusing fonts unless you want your guests wandering around like lost sheep. The use of menus, cutlery and plates makes your tablescape seem very flat, so table numbers are a fun way to play with height. Besides the obvious benefit that it makes them easier to read, using a tall holder for your table numbers plays with the levels of your décor. Co-ordinate them with your floral displays to ensure they won’t be blocked from view. Despite their namesake, table numbers don’t have to be numbered. Have some fun with naming your tables after favourite cocktails, date locations or books that unite you as a couple. You could also use photos of you both as a couple throughout your relationship to reminisce and act as an ice-breaker for your guests who may be meeting for the first time, after all you are the mutual link for all your guests!

PLACE CARDS

Once your guests have located their table, the next thing they’ll look for will be the place card. This piece of stationery is the perfect example of tying together style and practicality as your reception seating would be a muddle without them! In terms of design, choose colours and styles that fit in with your overall wedding theme, whether that’s painted watercolour wildflowers for a spring garden wedding or shells for a beach theme. Place names can have a holder which can match the theme too - such as rustic wooden disks for a barn wedding or glittery stars for a New Year affair. When deciding on which place

cards to plump for, make sure you tie it in with the rest of the table décor. After so artfully and thoughtfully planning out a menu that pleases and impresses everyone, it’s only fair you put the same level of care into the design. There are so many options to jazz up a traditional paper menu - whether that’s adorning it with gold foil, elegant calligraphy or pastel hues. You could get your stationer to hand-paint your venue or an illustration at the bottom of your menu. We love the way menus can be all different shapes for your wedding, particularly hexagons, triangles and circles for a modern style. ELOPEMENTS

Maybe it’s the Kourtney and Travis effect, but the number of elopements are up, up, up in our post-pandemic world. Jet off to Lake Como with your love for a romantic weekend or wed on a beach in the Maldives surrounded by flower arches and the lapping ocean. Remember, elopments don’t have to be solitary affairs, bring your loved ones with you and make a magical holiday from it!

SIMPLE FLOWERS

Wedding flowers usually summon images of huge, excessive floral displays spilling from every surface, but for 2023, less is definitely more. Tablescapes will feature minimal and clean floral displays in neutral shades. We predict that there will be less smaller displays dotted all over the venue and an uptake on larger installations like flower arches and floral clouds to create beautiful photo backdrops.

SOMETHING BLUE

2022 saw the popularity of sage green bridesmaid dresses surge, but for 2023, experts are predicting that blue and lavender tones will be taking over. After Bridgerton inspiring regency blue at weddings and the official Pantone colour of the year announced as ‘Very Peri’, your bridesmaids will be totally on trend and spoilt for dress selection if you choose them as your ‘something blue’!

Traditionally, the father of the bride, groom and best man give the speeches, but 2023 is set to subvert this tradition. Weddings should consider who would give the best speech, rather than which role automatically assigns you a speech, after all, it might be someone’s nightmare to give a speech and someone else’s dream, so choose wisely!

GUEST LISTS

Many couples didn’t have a choice when it came to guest lists during the pandemic, but actually being forced to have a more restrictive guest list could be a blessing for 2023 couples. Most couples would admit that they often feel pressured to invite certain people to their big day, but a post-pandemic world means micro-weddings and limited guest lists are a great way to make sure your nearest and dearest will be present at your wedding this year.

OUTDOOR WEDDINGS

Before the pandemic, you could only wed outdoors in England and Wales if the venue had a registered outdoor structure, but outdoor weddings proved so popular that now you can get married anywhere outside at your choice of venue! REUSABLE FAVOURS

On the theme of sustainability, reduce your waste by having reusable favours for your wedding day. We think 2023 weddings will feature eco-conscious favours, like potted succulents, homemade jams and seed paper, ideal for your guests to take home whilst also acting as a placename holder! Get crafty and handmake a favour for a special touch.

AISLE STYLE

As well as capturing the first look on camera, couples are also switching up how they walk down the aisle. To fit with modern family structures, there is no longer a need to be ‘given’ away to your partner by your father as this is an outdated, patriarchal practice. Instead, walk down the aisle with someone you love or why not walk yourself down the aisle?

COCKTAIL HOUR

More couples will be dedicating an hour of their day to the much-loved cocktail according to wedding experts. We’re seeing couples curate their own cocktail menu with their favourite recipes and personalised names to reflect their relationship, whether that’s pet names or favourite holidays.

FIRST LOOK

Usually the first look happens between the couple as their eyes meet up the aisle, but photographers are offering a chance to capture that moment on film. Couples now dedicate some time before the ceremony to get the look in eachother’s eyes on camera for a private and intimate moment.

FRUIT CAKE

But not as you think! Couples are moving away from the traditional currant cake and incorporating fruit into their cakes in creative ways. In terms of 2023 flavours, raspberry and white chocolate will be a hit, as well as lemon and elderflower for a fresh flavour.

Meet the Artist Auline-Jean, a classic soprano soloist, will win you over with her mesmerising voice… weddings, funerals and religious celebrations at church. I loved it. Singing is an expression of the soul; it allows me to express myself at the deepest level - I couldn’t love anything more.

2. TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHERE YOU ARE BASED. I’m a London girl. I was born here, and I love it. While I have always sung, I took a less conventional route into my career. In fact, my degree was in Mathematics which, to be fair, I also love. Even now, the thought of doing algebraic equations gets me all giddy. I went on to have a career as a pensions consultant in the City of London and later in Canary Wharf. The corporate world was great. The style, the power suits, the precision, the commuting – I loved it all, but I realised that it wasn’t for me. Eventually, I had to accept that my creativity wasn’t going to flourish in that environment. So, in 2015, I started my singing career. I’m also a huge fan of personal development, and this gave me the courage to change.

1. TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HOW YOU STARTED. As a kid, I was always in school and church choirs and volunteering for the solos (I would get grumpy if I didn’t get the solos!). As I got older, they started asking me to sing at

Music adds depth and presence to occasions. It’s about giving a moment in time a special meaning.

5. HOW WOULD YOU HELP COUPLES CHOOSE THE RIGHT MUSIC FOR THEM? I would ask couples about their vision for the day – what they want it to look and feel like. I would ask how they want their guests to feel on the day and at different stages of the day. I would also find out what meaningful songs are special or symbolic for them.

SUNSET CELEBRATIONS The Croatian harbour was the backdrop to Kim and Stu's dreamy destination proposal. "We were picked up in Hvar and after a couple of drinks watching the sunset on the yacht, we posed for a photo at the front of the boat when Stu went on one knee whilst clinging to the sail on the boat due to the waves." "I genuinely couldn’t believe it and couldn’t wait to put the ring on, not just because of being engaged but also to avoid falling into the sea!" A HOME FROM HOME With the stress of Covid restrictions, this couple set their sights on a venue where they could feel totally at ease. Delamere Manor ticked all of the boxes. "We wanted an outdoor ceremony and we got the perfect weather to make that happen. Delamere Manor was ideal for us as it allows for a homely atmosphere when the party ends. The way it works allows for the couple and family to have use of the manor like its your own home." BALCONY BRIDAL SUITE Before taking to the aisle, Kim and her bridal party could have a sneak peek from above. "My little flower girls and bridesmaids all had a first look at my dress and seeing their reactions made me so happy. The bridal suite looked down onto the terrace where our ceremony took place so I could spy on my groom and guests, making me even more excited to get down the aisle."

RAY OF SUNSHINE Live music was a focus for the bride and groom, who were blessed with a sunny ceremony: "We walked down the aisle to 'Here Comes The Sun' by The Beatles, as an acoustic version by the Songpilots. The song went really well with the outside ceremony and the sun beaming down, but also Stu loved the idea of seeing me coming down the aisle as his ray of sunshine." DANCING SHOES When we asked Kim about her perfect pair, she opted for "pink Freya Rose Mother of Pearl heels, and just didn’t want to take them off." "Our first dance was to 'The One' by Kodaline. We performed this on the outdoor terrace after practicing around our kitchen in the run-up to make it look like we had some kind of rhythm!" BABYMOON Nine months later, Kim and Stu had the excitement of welcoming their first child! "We don’t think the Kruga National park is a good place for a newborn so we may revisit these plans for an anniversary in the future! We did however manage to get to the Amalfi Coast, which was a beautiful trip seeing so many places and spending time together." WH

A CHRISTMAS STOCKING SURPRISE This duo's festive proposal didn't go quite as planned, but we'll let bride Emily tell you the rest! "It was very romantic but also funny. Lee proposed at Christmas and hid the ring in a stocking, but as he went down on one knee all the stockings fell down and the ring box flew into the fireplace!" DREAM VENUE DISCOVERY Emily and Lee welcomed 80 day guests and 120 for the evening celebrations at Crowcombe Court. "We happened to find the venue one day when we were out for a drive and on our way home we stopped to look up the driveway. After that, I went home and had a look online and saw how beautiful it was. It was the only wedding venue we ever looked at and thought it was fate that we happened to find it." THE BRIDAL BUILD-UP It's not everyday you're bride, and Emily sums up the surreal emotions perfectly. "It was a bit of an out-of-body experience as up to the wedding we didn’t really get the opportunity to let the excitement build as we moved into our new home just three days before the wedding! It honestly wasn’t till I had the dress on and my dad came in that it hit me what was happening." COMFORT IS KEY Emily dazzled in a fitted dress silhouette. "I love Australian designers as their dresses are so current and stylish. So instead of going to random wedding dress shops, I looked for stockists of certain designers. I found an amazing shop called Kiv and Zen in Topsham. It had such beautiful styles and when I tried on my dress we all knew it was the one. It was so light and comfortable that I was sad to take it off!" PASTEL PERFECTION First and foremost, the couple chose dusty hued florals and stationery to set the tone for the day. "These two elements made the day what it was, and they helped me make all my wedding design and colour decisions. The invitations gave everyone that first look at the style of the wedding and I had so many compliments!" Festive Fairytale A DATE TO REMEMBER It was a candle-lit beach dinner in Antigua that sent the sparks flying for this perfect pair: "It was beautiful. They had torches lit up, pink flowers on the table, candles, a champagne bucket stand and it was a very romantic setting with the sound of the waves crashing on the shore and the moon shining down on us." "It was the 11th of December, the same date as our first date, so there were certainly extra butterflies in my stomach when he proposed." SCREENSHOT SENSATION Finding Camila's dress match was meant to be. "I had seen this wedding dress online I really liked but there wasn’t any mention of the shop or name so I saved it on my phone. The second shop I visited, Minster Bridal Boutique in Wimborne, had put a few dresses aside and guess what? The first dress they brought out for me was the same dress I had taken the screenshot of months before. It was the perfect dress for me!"

THIRD TIME LUCKY After three covid date changes, Ian and Camila tied the knot with an intimate ceremony on their significant date 11/12/20, and their Brazilian family celebration was held on the same day the next year... "I felt very grateful to have made it to this special day and to have most of my family there with me. I also felt very emotional just before walking down the aisle. Real Weddings "We had our speeches in the rose garden"

PERSONAL PICKS Following their hilltop proposal on a sunny day in Buckinghamshire, Simon and Tabitha knew they had their hearts set on a summer wedding too. “We chose the church in a little village in Surrey where Tabitha went to school and our wonderful Vicar came down from our home church in London,” Simon explains. “It was important we were married by someone who knew us well and the service was amazing, especially the cheer as we were pronounced husband and wife.” After exchanging vows, the couple walked out handin-hand to a cascade of confetti and it was on to High Billinghurst Farm for the festivities to continue. DIY DREAMING “We absolutely loved that our venue was a blank canvas for us to work with – the owners were incredibly open minded and relaxed,” the couple enthuse. “The main barn was perfect for our wedding breakfast and the ceilidh later on, while the Elizabethan barn was the perfect chill-out zone complete with pick-and-mix sweets. We opted to have our speeches in the rose garden and guests could spill out and play croquet on the lawn too.” Enlisting expert help when it came to their big day blooms, Simon and Tabitha briefed Gen at Wild Evie on their floral vision and she delivered it in spades. “She took our rambling ideas and turned them into beautiful bouquets and arrangements and worked with our caterers too to dress the tables. They were more beautiful than we could have imagined,” the newlyweds gush.

MAID TO MEASURE Bride Tabitha's journey to find her perfect dress became a fun and memorable team effort! “None of the dresses I’d tried felt right and I was feeling a little downbeat. So my wonderful Maid of Honour, Emily, pulled together a presentation on a whole range of dress designers. It gave me so much inspiration and I loved Sassi Holford from the mix, so we booked an appointment at the Chelsea boutique and I left that day with my wedding dress!” Honouring their more traditional theme, the groom and his groomsmen looked smart in morning suits, as did the gentlemen among the wedding guests. In keeping with their summertime celebration, Tabitha’s bridesmaids also stunned in blue chiffon designs with a wrap top. “I loved the way they moved in the wind and when the bridesmaids were dancing,” recalls Tabitha. "Our photographer, Nick Ray, was exceptional – a calming presence amid the chaos, quietly in the background capturing the most beautiful moments for us to treasure.” WH

You can also choose a less traditional setting for your wedding blessing or vow renewal, such as the Manor House steps framed by elegant wisteria or the magical Well hidden amongst the woodland under the boughs of the ancient oak tree - all offering incredible photo opportunities. There’s much to experience at Horwood House, and we had the wonderful chance explore it all! We felt right at home, thanks to the warm staff, and we found plenty to keep us busy, so we are sure couples will love it too! There are beautiful dining rooms for rehearsal dinners, such as the Library with views of the garden. We tried and tested the contemporary cuisine at Harry’s Bar, and I definitely recommend trying the Teriyaki Marinated Loch Duart Salmon. If it’s a lovely day, you can also host a magical dinner or wedding breakfast next to the lily pond. Get all your friends together to spend the night before in the Manor Suites. Beautifully designed, there’s no better place to get ready for your big day. And, to get the nerves tamed, the H Spa is an idyllic spot to relax with your better half or alone. was simply breathtaking, and the sunrise I woke up to every morning reflecting on the gleaming sea was something else! The neutral interior tones are juxtaposed with brightly coloured, bold patterned artwork and furnishings. Stunning details enrich each individual room: the sea-inspired embellished cushion covers and sculptured lamps reflect a touch of Greece. If the stunning beach isn't enough for sunbathing, the hotel has three pools, including a 100-metre freshwater outdoor pool, children's pool and waterslides. Located right by the beach and outdoor bar, you get the best of both worlds. With cabanas and sunbeds dotted throughout, this is the ideal base while island hopping. Dama Dama has five exceptional restaurants, including late night snack bars and a beach lounge. During my stay, I experienced a variety of these superb eateries. Dama Dama is a Mediterranean buffet style restaurant in the hotel, serving a variety of fresh foods with a divine selection of desserts, this is a popular, family friendly spot. With the option to be seated outside, the view of the spotlights glistening onto the stunning outdoor pool with the warm climate and gentle breeze created an immensely peaceful atmosphere. Caffe Italia offers classic Italian dishes and hot stone specialities. During my alfresco dining experience, I enjoyed a three-course meal from the carefully selected menu. For my starter, I couldn’t resist the grilled vegetable bruschetta, the beautifully designed colourful dish was picture perfect. For my main course I devoured mushroom and ricotta tortellini before finishing off with a delightful profiterole dessert. The aesthetic plating of the food combined with the superb service was spot on for my dining experience. A restaurant not to miss is Tavernaki Olive Oil, which specialises in spectacular Greek plates using the best local produce. Located on a balcony overlooking the resort and surrounded by foliage and candles, this is the place for a romantic dinner with a loved one.

Travel During my time at Halki I spent the afternoon on Potamos beach, only a 15-minute walk from the port, and in a spectacular, private setting. Despite Potamos being the most popular beach on the island, I was surprised at how peaceful it was. There are numerous sunbeds and umbrellas situated around the beach that can be hired for a small fee, or you also have the option to sit on the sandy strip of beach. This idyllic swimming spot was blissful for an afternoon swim, the sheltered bay with shallow waters is excellent for a family holiday. Overlooking the bay, you will find Nick Taverna, a traditional Greek restaurant, serving up fabulous fresh food. You can also enjoy an ice-cold cocktail from the bar while admiring the gentle sea view.

ISLAND HOPPING Greece is designed for hassle-free island hopping for people who crave stunning scenery steeped in history and a Mediterranean climate. During my stay in Rhodes, I took day trips to the surrounding islands, Symi and Halki. This enabled me to have a base while experiencing the ultimate island hopping venture. STUNNING SYMI As I took to the seas by ferry across the Aegean waters, I arrived in Symi 90 minutes later. Positioned on the waterfront, I indulged in a traditional chicken souvlaki paired with Greek salad and tzatziki. The sound of the waves crashing onto the shore created an exquisite location to devour my splendid Greek cuisine. Memories from Mexico Callum Topazio checks into two beachside resorts in the heart of Riviera Maya for adults-only adventures in a destination wedding haven…

As we descended the plane from cloudy London and the Mexican heat hit our faces, I was giddy with anticipation for the treats that awaited me over the following week. We departed Cancun airport and travelled to our first stop: the 5-star all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya. Upon entering the hotel, we were treated to friendly service, kind faces and a complimentary cocktail in the Heaven Lounge, only a taster of the pampering we were yet to receive. Usually present in Hard Rock venues, the décor incorporated 3,000 pieces of music memorabilia and modern designs, but the Riviera Maya hotel added a traditional Mexican twist with pops of bright colours and bold patterns. The décor flowed smoothly into my room, a brand-new Deluxe Swim-Up room situated in the Heaven adults-only area of the hotel and I couldn’t have wished for more! With a patio that backs out onto two cosy loungers and a semi-private swim-up pool that wraps around the perimeter of my accommodation, it was my favourite place to enjoy the peachy Mexican sunrises and struck me as a great honeymoon memory for all you doting couples. Refreshed from my flight with a cosy snooze in my king bed and pamper in my room’s hydro spa tub, I was eager to explore what the hotel had to offer. Bursting with stunning backdrops, with everything from beachside gazebos to garden terraces, it’s the perfect location for a destination wedding, romantic dinner or magical proposal. We wandered from the adults-only tropical Heaven area to the Hacienda family zone, but with a multitude of beachy inlets and Bali Beds dotted throughout, it all felt private and intimate. One of the highlights of their wedding packages is the versatility they offer, you can craft your day from their wedding inspiration collections to tailor the day to your wishes and give it a sophisticated, high-end feeling. After our tour we were guided to The Rock Spa, the largest spa in the Caribbean, for a combination of adult-exclusive treatments. We indulged in luxurious massages, steam rooms, hydrotherapy current pools and ice rooms for a full pamper ideal for that pre-wedding beauty prep! Fully relaxed, we had a Super Cabana booked for us by the new Oasis Pool in the Heaven Resort and got a taste of the rock and roll life with a swim-up bar, live singer and DJ playing Latin tunes for us to jive along to. They even had a poolside drinks and food service, which meant spicy margaritas on tap for us, good times! Dressed for dinner and warmed by our private tequila tasting session, we attended our VIP culinary tour around the world with the sevencourse Awaken Your Senses dinner, one of my highlights! This interactive dinner uses high-resolution projectors, a touch table, scent synchronisation and sets in a multi-sensory experience to board a flight around the world without leaving the room. The waiters brought us international delicacies, including Yorkshire puddings, beef and horseradish in a London phone box and a seafood chowder straight from the Caribbean! The tour even finished in space with your very own chocolate planet globe to smash and a tailored drink for each course, this is ideal to enjoy with your wedding party. I’ll leave the tequila-based surprise for when you book… Riviera Maya offers so many fantastic experiences to enrich your wedding or honeymoon celebrations and create some magical memories with your loved ones. One day we ventured out on a luxury catamaran, lounging on the nets at the front of the boat and snorkelling with the

Travel sting rays and turtles, it was a memory to treasure. The Tulum Extreme Excursion was an incredible mix of seven ziplines over the Mayan jungle canopy in a range of flying styles, a chance to snorkel in a mystical Mayan Cenote and a historical tour around the archaeological site of Tulum with Mayan temples to learn the history of Mexico. A great chance to explore the amazing opportunities Mexico has to offer. Hard Rock also organised a Jam Band Session in which we learnt how to play guitars, keyboards and even sang a rendition of The Beatles together on the main stage, exactly where the live band perform in the evenings. We truly felt like a rock band, even if we didn’t sound like it! We even got a chance to test our golf skills on the world-class Hard Rock 18-hole golf course and learn how to pitch and putt with an expert, a fun couple’s treat alongside a specially crafted honeymoon package. After the fast-paced excitement and adventure offered by the Hard Rock Hotel, we checked into the 5-star UNICO 20°87° Hotel for four days of tropical pampering and divine food! After a lunch of prawn and chorizo risotto at the 20.87 Restaurant, we took a tour of our new base and were wowed by the amenities on offer. Full of clean lines and neutral shades, the décor flowed from the poolside loungers and beds to the 448 rooms and classy bars, perfectly juxtaposing traditional Mexican styling with modern bohemian colours. I was staying in a stunning Alcoba Ocean View room with a panoramic balcony view of the hotel, pools and the blue ocean beyond, with a king bed, natural sisal rope details and exterior lounging area to while away the warm Mexican nights as you prepared to go for dinner. Before the sun set we headed down to the beach adjoining the back of the hotel for a traditional Shaman ritual, in which couples were blessed together with burning incense and minerals to cleanse and set them off to the best start for married life. You could even have the Shaman present at your beach elopement wedding, with the sun setting over the sea, turtles poking up between the lapping waves and white sands underfoot, UNICO 20°87° weddings are a magical event inspired by the warmth of the Riviera Maya region. After a day of dipping in and out of the adults-only pools to keep cool in the Mexican heat, we had certainly built up an appetite. The UNICO 20°87° Resort has so many culinary treats on offer, including the Asian flavours of Mura House with delicious teppanyaki and sushi (I’d recommend the beef teriyaki with ginger and toasted sesame!) and Mi Carisa’s love letter to the romantic coastlines of the Mediterranean with their Italian cuisine.

HARD ROCK HOTEL RIVIERA MAYA

As we were in Mexico, it was so exciting to indulge in some cuisine traditional to the Yucatan Peninsular. We had a private cooking class with a chef from the Cueva Siete restaurant and teamed up in pairs to create spicy margaritas with a chilli salt rim, creamy guacamole and joints of pork slow-cooked in banana leaves underground for hours to form delicious towering tacos. The culinary delights continued that evening with a traditional Mexican dinner at the restaurant from head chef Lula Martín Del Campo, the first female head chef in their rotating chef system in which new cooks highlight ingredients and recipes from their experiences. It was so special to enjoy dishes inspired by her mother’s meatball recipe with a rich chipotle sauce and a Horchata three milk cake with coloured confetti, it was perfect for our final evening at UNICO 20°87°. After a poolside pizza party and a chance to soak up the last of the Mexican sunshine, we boarded our flight back to London with a glowy tan, a hundred memories and new friends to treasure.
