ACADEMIC WORK.
A CONTEMPORARY VERNACULAR Ensuring an Urban Community through Adaptable / Modular design Chennai, India. Urban Slum Redevelopment
CONCEPT To retain character of the spaces they share between the cluster of the existing houses. The common spaces not visible from the main road but accessed from the smaller road creating hidden pocket. The common facility are designed to be placed in the center on the pockets for easy access and are fixed to a level. Thus becoming a record marker of the floods.
Access to the common facility
The modules are designed keeping mind the three factors : Bamboo length,Bamboo diameter and the existing typology
The split axono of the each modules shows the different prototypes attached to make the bamboo structure. Also specifying the bamboo required to make prototypes of different modules.
BUOYANT FOUNDATION A buoyant foundation is a particular type of amphibious foundation that is already slightly elevated off the ground and supported on short piers. The system consists of three basic elements: buoyancy blocks underneath the house that provide flotation, vertical guide posts that prevent the house from going anywhere except straight up and down, and a structural sub-frame that ties everything together.

The project, while a successful start, did not address all issues with the site. Parts of the river, the bridges that cross it, and the surrounding urban fabric still suffer from disrepair. The Seungyo Bridge and surrounding buildings needs an urban intervention to realize its full potential. The project will revitalize the arcades, creating a flow through the site that generates continuity through the city.

At the project’s completion, the site has been transformed. Redevelopment of the North & south Arcades proved to be effective in creating & demonstrating interactive public spaces while creating visual connections to the surrounding urban fabric, connected & accented by the development of the Seungyo Bridge. The newly developed twin pedestrian bridges successfully create visual ques & destinations, linking together the remaining micro destinations throughout the site through the use of the undulating canopy system.
SECTION BB
The three levels - stream, street, and bridge - are based off the scale of the human body to make it relateable to users. The shades on the bridge provide a cool and convenient place to walk, and increased lighting illuminates the space at night. Many benches are provided to allow pedestrians to stop and rest. The conglomeration of all these elements creates a highly dense area that can provide for the needs of all users.
The bridge becomes a destination for the city, drawing people to the site. The roadway is narrowed to a single lane to slow traffic and widen the sidewalks, making the site more pedestrian focused. Vegetation adds a natural element to the site as well as helps clean and cool the air. Vertical circulation intersects with horizontal circulation to provide access to all parts of the site.

CONCEPT: The area is physically and functionally divided into strips overlapping in two directions creating diverse situations which suites the needs of the program. The plan is strategically designed to flow along the contour thus making the function of the building. Kiosk and raised pads all along the site enhance the activities along the street creating micro destination for tourist / passerby’s.

HIGH SIGHT A watch tower
City of savannah is known for its history and preservation which is visually limited by its height resrification, when it has more to offer. The main aim of this projective preservation was to enhance the character of the city and experiencing the historic district in a different perspective. The city grids formed green square at every intersection which acts as a great connection between the main historic district and its surrounding. The idea started with selecting different city squares which had historic buildings of different heights limitations. A tunnel like structure which is elevated above the building heights at every city square. The tunnel acts as a connection between historical buildings at different levels of the building. The connection was created to enhance the visual Impact of the city and experience.
Each TOTEM Pole has the capacity to hold 6 rings. These rings charge while nesting on the dock but are also equipped with custom batteries for easy transportation. Users can choose to mix and match the following rings to create their own custom TOTEM pole system: Thunderbird: LED light rings are treated in plastic emitting a powerful glow that lights up indoor and outdoor spaces and is also safe and comfortable to wear as a bracelet once removed from the dock. Wolf: The speaker ring compliments the sub woofer housed at the top of the TOTEM’s main pole which is also a wireless battery backup. This ring is made of durable and weatherproof cooper-color aluminum, filling a home or campsite with sound. Also wearable. Watchman: An auxiliary thermal security ring may be purchased to monitor spaces outside of the home charging dock. Both the home Watchman ring and supplemental rings attach to the TOTEM app for reliable security.

The least favorite part of a holiday is traveling especially with kids, everyone loves visiting new places and family. Making kids enjoy their travel is as easy as making yourself enjoy the flight. Star wars is a movie that has existed for centuries and every generation can relate to the characters in the movie. The character pillow resembled the shield of Darth Vader and acted as perfect travel pillow, making the kid feel like a super hero.
