Guidon Design’s designers are passionate about creating patient-centered healing environments for our healthcare clients. We accomplish this by practicing evidence-based design and analyzing efficiency through LEAN methods. We place special emphasis on understanding the project goals and operational needs of our clients and integrating them into every phase of design to ensure the delivery of a project which improves healthcare outcomes and the experience of patients and caregivers. Our projects are planned and programmed in close collaboration with our clients. This collaborative approach ensures client convenience, while providing efficient workflow for staff, way-finding, and longterm flexibility. We practice design leadership by formulating the right kinds of questions to ask our clients at the front end. This process leads us to the understanding required to ensure the facility functions as well in 15 years as it does the day it opens. Our team takes significant strides to apply the current behavioral health trends, research information, and technology into our designs. When designing facilities for mental and behavioral health patients, our designers create calming, therapeutic and restorative environments. We combine evidence based research with our professional experience to deliver best-in-class facilities.

Guidon Design Inc. provided Project Management, Architecture, Interior Design, Structural and Civil Engineering for the design of this modern outpatient behavioral health space. This project repurposes 8,400 sf of existing, first floor space. The Guidon Design Team collaborated closely with the facility leadership team and clinical end-users to develop project goals. The final design provided a new Substance Abuse Clinic with a dedicated entrance and expanded waiting areas allowing for the expansion of the program overall. A central waiting and reception area for all outpatient behavioral health services was created to be welcoming while providing HIPPA required patient privacy. Staff security was addressed through the design by providing passive security integrated in the floorplan as well as panic buttons, cameras, and space for security staff. Flexibility was incorporated into the design through the use of demountable wall partitions, which allow administrative, conference rooms, and group meeting areas to be cost-effectively adjusted for future needs while ensuring sound control and patient privacy in the present. The interior design included materials, furnishings, and fixtures intended to provide a comfortable, calming environment while removing items which could potentially be used as weapons or for suicide attempts.
