landscape
The project aims to make visible the exceptional landscape succession, from the marine bed to the sky, from the subsoil to the phytogenic mantle of macchia mediterranea shrubland, to the territory’s sequential historic control strategies, creating an effective stratigraphy of vistas to explore. The stone modulates the affinity between the ruins and the volumes’ reconstruction in the building’s reformation project, where the existent walls,
renovated and plastered, are clearly distinguished from the stone membranes that contain the new buildings program. The new perforated granitic walls help pass through and disperse daylight and air till they get luminous and transparent to the view. They are membranes in a succession of horizontal, vertical and oblique levels that generate a mineral landscape.

mechanized production cut_1
post industrial landscape
The purpose of this study is to restore a post-industrial landscape with its transformation into a rich ecosystem. The idea is based on Gilles Clement΄s three concepts of: garden in motion, planetary garden and the third landscape. The industrial landscape chosen for rehabilitation is the Lignite Center of Western Macedonia (LKDM). The LKDM is the second in capacity in Europe and the sixth worldwide. In this region, more specifically in the trench developed along the axis passing through Florina - Ptolemaida - Kozani - Elassona,
the greatest amount of lignite available in Greece is concentrated. This paper proposes the conversion of a lignite center in a sustainable and autonomous ecosystem with sufficient variety of species of flora and fauna using the existing equipment, the infrastructure and the given landscape. The ecosystem supports also urban structures mainly for controlling the production of agricultural crops and to ensure its function to an optimum level.

an ideal machine for the mud’s island in the venice lagoon_1 principal stages of the island’s transformation
1. the mud’s island - Tresse - at the present
2. creation of the second island the ideal machine is in function
3. vision of the area in the future part of the mud is given back to nature
post industrial landscape
The Tresse island was created in the lagoon as a “box” for the storage of polluted mud deriving from the digging of the canals in the industrial area of “porto Marghera”. . The project suggests an invertion for a rejected area to be turned into an integral part of the landscape. Using the same mud stored for years in the old island an ideal machine is created for the temporary storage and recycling of dirty mud. The machine consists of two islands separated but complementary. They are connected and every movement in one of the two influences the other. The mud is the material for their construction and in the same time it is the reason for their existence. When the old island is being destroyed the new one is being created.
The whole process is set on a dynamic way and it depends on the capacity of the material to change. The transformation of the island is slow but complete. The circle islands are the last to remain on stage on a respond to a re-action of nature. The program includes a Research Center and an energy production area of solar panels. The building is a steel circle island that emerges from the lagoon and is exposed to the tide variations. The reticular shell gives a sense of lightness and the large hole in the center creates a wide water piazza. The height changes gradually in order to create an entrance and a passage for boats and gondolas.

Notes: scene 00: Current situation. The old island is maximum 12 m high. scene 01: Beginning of the exportation of mud from the old island and construction of the new island with the same mud. scene 09: Construction of the first basin in the new island and beginning of filling in. Continuation of the digging & exporta tion of the mud in the old island. scene 19: Basins and roads are complete. The machine is now in full function.
&
scene 20: Beginning of the destruction. Emergency situation is finished. The basins are not necessary any more. scene 28: The backbone of the machine. The roads connecting the circle-islands are essential for the creation of the green area. scene 29: In the future. What is given back to nature.

Greenpoint_
public building
A Green Point is a place that includes the appropriate equipment and the facilities to recycle, reuse and repair / upcycle items, in order to inform, to reinforce environmental awareness and participation of citizens in waste prevention programs. The main concept relies on a prototype system of metallic beams, joints and panels, which form the volumes and the urban furniture. A grid of 80 cm step is used horizontally and vertically for ergonomic reasons, providing flexibility and ensuring the economy of the structure.
The whole project is formed by four small spatial structures, each one of which is indicated by a different color, corresponding to a different use, and thus facilitating both the orientation and the visual communication. The individual parts are unified by a planted perforated roof. Extensive planting flows around the space giving emphasis to the GP’s ecological character, composing an urban garden.
