After the war, newcom ers, including former slaves, appeared in Clay. Returning veterans and their families struggled with visible and invisible scars. One excep tional veteran was Edward R. Keith, who lived on Bonstead Road in Clay. He was wounded at Pine Knob, Georgia while serving in the 149th NY Infantry. A part of his arm bone was removed, but that didn’t stop him from pursuing a career as a painter after the war. Other families mourned those who never came back. We use this month to reach out to those affected by suicide, raise awareness and connect individuals with suicidal ideation to treatment services. If Biden, with the support of the Sierra Club, etc, can shut down pipe lines, 1002anwr, and logging, then why not an unnecessary subsidized farm in the protected watershed. Did you read the BIB, Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill? We did.

Didn’t NY get money from HR 3864, billions for clean water and waste water infrastructure platforms? Also, didn’t us democrats mandate NY solar power projects? How many gigs by 2030? Do you know? So, then why not solve two environmental goals with one stone: 1. waste water problems for people down stream and 2. enhanced solar power. The B.I.B. allows us to shut down, like pipelines, Fesko farms and the new addition, with HR 3864? And replace it with a mandated 40 MW solar and battery platform? Isn’t that what us democrats wish? Or will the SLA and others pretend that another 20 years of Fesko’s operation in the watershed will have zero effect on lake quality? (and women thought Adam Weits man removing 61 West St. would exacerbate water quality, wow) The work we see SLA doing advertised on East Lake Rd is great, but get real. We understand completely what you all are doing. We read and study also. All the talk about mandating future solar power, but not in any of our back yards is sadly funny. Guess how much waste water and clean water infrastructure funds came to NY? Do local journalists, mayors, supervisors, senators, congress people, etc., know? Let’s see the response to this editorial to start the conversation. Spafford is so inefficient and full of conflict of interests that it passes a lazy steep slope law and yet allows Fesko to add more subsidized production. Another 20 years of operation cre ates how much negative runoff in the watershed? Read about New Zealand’s milk pollution problems.

This is important to remember as the Buffalo Bills set out on what could be a long-awaited championship push. Already the narrative is out there about the GREAT AND MIGHTY JOSH ALLEN and all of his amazing attributes.Well, all of those traits were there a season ago, and the Bills didn’t win it all because it hadn’t quite figured out all the other things.

This prompted an ongoing discus sion about the proper way fans should act toward someone who was in their midst for a long while, finding a great amount of success, before heading somewhere else.

From the 12th Man – or simply the “12” in Seattle

– the boos cascaded down on Russell Wilson before, during and after the Den ver Broncos’ Mondaynight loss to the Seahawks.

Maybe it’s past time for all of us, as intelligent fans, to remember that a championship team is just that – a team, with players, coaches, front of fice, literally hundreds of people mak ing crucial contributions.

at’s easy…Your swing gets sloppy, you’re not sure what is wrong, you try new xes and you make more mistakes than you normally do. In addition, your mental focus diminishes and you become more frustrated with yourself. I should know, this describes me perfectly. is has happened to me many times over my career. Coming up with the right balance of playing golf with practice time at the range is critical.

Is It Possible To Play Too Much Golf?

When Do You Know You Are Playing Too Much?

If every amateur golfer in the United States was asked, ”Are you playing too much golf”, what percentage would answer YES? I believe the number would probably be about 5%. What say you? at leaves 95% of us who would answer NO…we don’t play enough golf. A more important question we should ask ourselves is, “Is it possible we ‘might’ be playing too much golf”? It would be a lie if I told you I haven’t thought about this question many times during “every” golf season, over the last 40 plus years. I struggle with this because I want to be the best golfer I can be while balancing my other priorities of; family, friends, nances, health, and business relationships as well as my mental well being. I suspect many of you struggle with the same issues.

How Many Times A Week Should We Play?

* Play in a golf league.

To some, it was offensive, a mark of ingratitude. To others, it was just the home team hissing at the opposition. No more, no less.

ere is no simple answer to this question that will apply to all amateur golfers. It is ultimately up to each of us to come up with our own schedule but you might want to use some of the following guidelines to reach that elusive balance between golf and your other priorities, if, you want to reach your potential as a golfer.

Yet if you enter any football-related discussion circa 2022, it’s almost im possible to determine if anyone else had anything to do with a team’s success or failure if they weren’t taking snaps.

If the score is 38-14, 21-17 or even 10-7, the game story is always centered in their context. If any last-minute scoring drive is put together, the rest of the team, already vacant, disappears further from any kind of credit.

In between, CBA had stretched it to 42-28 early in the fourth quarter, a 52-yard screen pass to Jamier Handford leading to Rae finding James Bell over the middle for 30 yards and a TD.

Both sides worked hard in the first half, but it was the Warriors inching out in front when Edis Omerovic put a shot past Northstars goalie Wyatt Dupell.

Liverpool is home this Friday to face University Prep (Rochester). Kickoff is at 6:30.

Going into last week’s action at 4-1 overall, the Cicero-North Syracuse Blue boys golf team suffered some setbacks. The Northstars fell 207-216 to West Genesee Gold last Tuesday at Lakeshore Country Club, with Jack Wolanski’s nine-hole 40 beaten by the Wildcats’ Ryan Gill (38) and Ben Glass (39). Drew Kippen had a 41, equaled by WG’s Jason Clifton, with Owen Zoanet ti’s 43 ahead of a 44 from Sean Lawler and 45 from Kaeden Hacker. David Schmidt added a 46. Rebounding a day later at Lakeshore Country Club, C-NS Blue routed Fayetteville-Manlius White 200-24, with Kippen matching par thanks to a 36. Wolanski and Hacker

Liverpool also was shut out on Saturday when it took on reigning sectional Class AA champion Fayetteville-Manlius and was contained n a 2-0 defeat to the Hornets. McQuatters picked up seven saves, yet F-M was able to convert once in each half, seeing Evan Terreri and Sam Duncanson pick up goals.

Right up until the latter stages of regulation, the Cicero-North Syra cuse girls soccer team had to feel like they were revisiting a bad dream. The Northstars trailed archrival Liverpool by a goal last Wednesday night at LHS Stadium, just as it did last fall when the Warriors stunned unbeaten C-NS in the Section III Class AA semifinals. Here, though, C-NS’s patience and pressure led to a stunning late turn around and, ultimately, a 2-1 victory in overtime that might prove a turn ing point in the Northstars’ season. C-NS had gone to the Sept. 10-11 Hall of Fame Tournament, where it played Long Island’s North Babylon to a 0-0 draw helped by Meghan McGrath stopping all 13 shots she faced.

when Dimitrijevski took it herself and put in the game-winner early in the ex tra period.Withnewfound momentum, C-NS played twice at the Gillette Road com plex over the weekend, starting on Saturday when the Northstars ripped Oneonta (Section IV) 8-0. Emilee Rio and Mya Jenkins both scored twice, with single goals going to Dimitri jevski, Julianna Edwards, Katalina Lawrence and Maya Germain. Dimi trijevski, Lawrence and Adrianna Cat alina each got assists.

ting up a short TD plunge, but the North stars, up 6-0, could not capitalize on a CBA fumble on its second play from scrimmage, stopped on fourth down.

Then, after recovering a short kickoff, Jordan Rae threw a first-down pass to Jason Brunson, allowing the Brothers to run out the clock and, though exhausted, celebrate a win that seemed to have everything.

Some big sports events do not equal the hype that precedes them. Others do so.

Energized, the Brothers turned to Syair Torrence, who in short order (1) caught a 10-yard TD pass from Rae with a terrific sideline catch, (2) made a third-down sack and then (3) threw an option 58-yard scor ing pass to a wide-open Ammari Pitts.

Joe Sacco finished with a 42, equaled by Jack Antshel, with Alex Kirkby and Owen Michaud both shooting 44 and

“Companies do this sort of thing all the time. Many compa nies already know where they want to set up shop, but then they use different local governments to sort of compete against each other to get their preferred location to provide them a better tax

Johnson’s second TD, on a 45-yard run following a long kick return by Jayceon McGrew, sparked the comeback. Two long drives followed, consuming 14 minutes of clock between them and each ending with the Northstars finding the end zone on short runs by Johnson and Razmovski.

In an evenly played contest, Dupell made six saves and blanked Liverpool the rest of the way. But none of C-NS’s seven shots got past Jacob McQuatters, who earned the shutout.

B’ville didn’t put up big numbers, as Brandon Levin led his side with 134 rush ing yards on 29 carries and the Bees man aged just 53 passing yards.

Earlier this year, Gov. Kathy Hochul said she was offering an undisclosed company “a very robust incentive package” to build a plant at White Pine. Neither Hochul nor McMahon has named any of the companies with whom they are negotiating.

Of course, the Warriors’ defensive effort involved many players. Only one of them, Hop Brown, is a senior, but he, along with junior Patrick Ninemeh, sophomores Bobby McQuatters and Evan Belfield and freshman, Camden Farrell, combined to keep the Norhstars con tained.Moving ahead in the week, C-NS visited first-place Baldwinsville on Saturday afternoon, and while not able to give the Bees its first de feat of the season, the Northstars did mange to earn a 0-0 draw.

Before this, C-NS fell to Nottingham Thursday in another 1-0 deci sion where the Northstars had all kinds of chances to get on the board.

Back and forth the two powers went, trading points, big plays, turnovers, per sonal fouls and plenty of high emotion through 48 action-packed minutes, de cided only when the Brothers made one timely defensive stop to preserve a 42-41 victory over the Northstars.

A day earlier, the Northstars had lost, 5-1, to Rye, from Section I, where McGrath had nine saves. Only Alli son Dimitrijevski scored for C-NS. It amounted to a 1-2-1 record heading into the league opener where Liverpool, at 2-0-1, awaited. Perhaps remember ing its playoff performance from 2021, the Warriors clamped down on defense throughout a scoreless first half, adding to the pressure. Then Liverpool went in front 1-0 early in the second half, and were convinced that its defense could make that slim margin stick –and it almost did. But with 37 seconds left in regulation, Allison Dimitrijevs ki’s strong pass set up Grace Engle for the tying goal, and it was on to the 20 minutes of overtime. Under new rules this fall, a “golden goal” will win such games, and the Northstars attained it

both finished at 39, with Lawler’s 40 completing a top-four Northstars sweep. Nate Bustin helped out, shooting 46. C-NS Green lost, 220-227, to Fayette ville-Manlius White last Monday at Woodcrest, where Mike DeGroat and Brandon Marchitto both shot 44, which two Hornets equaled and two others (Parker Kaczorowski and Grant Rhyde) topped with 43. Colin Nichols had a 45 as Gavin Nichols and Ethan Hanson both posted 47. Liverpool challenged F-M Green last Monday at Foxfire, and the Warriors lost, 207-216, to the Hor nets. Brady Michaud’s 41 was fourth behind the F-M trio of Will Kettell (38), Luke Weisiger and Dan Stark (40 each).

One week, and one lopsided victory, may have convinced some that the Liver pool football team was ready to challenge its main Class AA rivals in a matter not seen before. Another game provided a dif ferentBaldwinsville, lesson.

When CBA took the second-half kickoff and scored again on Rae’s 16-yard scram ble, C-NS was down by the same 21-point margin by from which it rallied to stun Liverpool in the 2019 sectional semifinals.

Through 100 minutes on a warm afternoon – 80 in regulation, 20 in overtime – every attempt to break the deadlock was turned away, with fine efforts in goal from Wyatt Dupell C-NS and Nick Hollingshead for B’ville, augmented by strong, consistent defense.

It didn’t stop there, either. Rae found Pitts on a 19-yard rollout pass for another TD, then connected with Brunson on a 16yard scoring pass in the last seconds of the half after Johnson had gone 24 yards for his first TD of the night.

While Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon has said the county is in negotiations with three possible tenants for White Pine, Reese said there is no guarantee the county will be able to secure a large manufacturer for the site.

C-NS, Liverpool boys golfers take defeats

Everett Gilchirst’s sixth straight extra point followed - and it proved the winning point after the Brothers, at the last mo ment, kept C-NS from pulling it off, leav ing players on both sides wondering what might happen if these sides met again in the post-season.

Then there was the matter of last Friday night’s football showdown at Alibrandi Stadium between the 2021 state Class A champions (Christian Brothers Academy) and the reigning four-time Section III Class A champions (Cicero-North Syra cuse), which managed to exceed whatever people may have thought.

So it was again last Tuesday night at LHS Stadium, where Liver pool got an early tally, and it proved enough to earn a 1-0 victory in the first of two regular-season encounters.

Each side had scored plenty in their opening games the week before – Liv erpool 59 agianst Henninger, B’ville 55 against Rome Free Academy. Only one of those sides was able to do so again.

Years on the calendar may change and rosters always change, but boys soccer games between Liverpool and Cicero-North Syra cuse tend to follow the same theme.

Even then, the Bees an swered it, and Liverpool trailed 27-7 at the break.Any chance of a comeback dissipated when the Warriors were kept off the board in the third quarter, its last two touch downs coming in the final period with the game out of reach.

And it nearly did so again here.

Every battle between the Warriors and Northstars seems to be close and low-scoring, with plenty of defense, intensity and physical play decided by one or two key moments.

But a deep, versatile Bees defense proved quite tough, Kaleb McIntyre pick ing up six tackles as Kaleb Young and Mike Madonna had five tackles apiece. Greg Marinelli helped out with an inter ception and fumble recovery.

Somehow, all 14 of C-NS’s shots were taken by Bulldogs goalie Kipling Korba-Davis, and a single tally put up by Felix Loselose held up. By contrast, Liverpool beat Corcortan 3-1, a pair of first-half goals prov ing enough as Antonio Wilson netted a goal and assist, with Omerovic converting again and Albin Buja earning an assist.

Jake Berthoff had a 44, with Isaiah Issakainen adding a 45 and Aaron Clouthier a 51. Brady Miltello led the Northstars with a 44 and Nichols added a 45, while Bran don Marchitto shot 48. This busy week continued with Liverpool offering its own challenge to first-place Baldwins ville last Thursday afternoon, the War riors falling 184-214 to the Bees. Sacco led his side with a 41. Cole had a 43, edg ing Brady Michaud (44) as Berrthoff and Owen Michaus both pospted 44. B’ville had five players shoot 38 or lower, with Keegan Lynch’s 35 the top total.

For the Richers and their remaining neighbors, it’s “just a waiting game” to see if the county can secure a tenant.

Liverpool also played Saturday, shutting out another Section IV team, Elmira, in a 2-0 decision. Both goals came in the second half, with Grace Muller getting one and assisting on the other, by Jailyn Parrotte. Emily Rath assisted on Muller’s goal.

Reese said he doesn’t want Burnet Road to become a “re development wreck” like a neighborhood in the city of New London, Connecticut. IJ represented Susette Kelo and her neighbors in an eminent domain battle with the city in the early 2000s. The U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments for Kelo v. City of New London in 2004. The following year, the court ruled 5-4 that New London’s “proposed disposition of petitioners’ prop erty qualifies as a ‘public use’ within the meaning of the Takings Clause” in the Fifth Amendment.
