Village of Cleveland Cleveland is located on the North Shore of Oneida Lake and on the border of Oneida County. The Village of Cleveland was incorporated in 1857. Much of the 19th century industry was based on glass manufacturing from the Cleveland Glass Company and the Union Glass Company.

Brewerton in Town of Cicero
The community of Brewerton is in the town of Cicero in Onondaga County and the town of Hastings in Oswego County. It lies at the west end of Oneida Lake at its outlet into the Oneida River. Maps of the 19th century indicate that this area was once known as Fort Brewerton. The community is sited near the former Fort Brewerton, erected in 1759 to defend the passage from Albany to the port of Oswego. Settlers arrived in 1789 to engage in the fur trade. The Fort Brewerton Block House Museum contains local relics dating back to Paleo-Indian times. It is located next to the original fort. Brewerton is the home of many small businesses and residents who enjoy recreation on Oneida Lake and the NYS Canal system. Visitors to Brewerton can enjoy the Riverfront Park on the south side of the river and to the west of the Route 11 bridge. On the north side of the river on the east side of the bridge is a state owned pier where you can dock your boat and enjoy dining and visit sites such as the Oliver Stevens Block House or the Rear Range Lighthouse Park.

Town of Hastings
Located in Oswego County, Hastings was the first town settled in Oswego County when Oliver Stevens built a crude house near the abandoned Fort Brewerton in 1789. Today, the Oliver Stevens Blockhouse is part of the Fort Brewerton Historical Park. It is the home for the Fort Brewerton Historical Society, its research center and museum. The museum shares about 10,000 years of local history, National Military artifacts, colonial life, area industry and more. Open April - October on the third Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. or by appointment. Admission is a suggested $5 donation per person. The original earthworks are still visible and intact. The fort also hosts a farmers market, re-enactments and other events throughout the season. After visiting the fort, it is just a short drive to the Brewerton Rear Range Lighthouse Park. It is a great spot for a picnic, playing frisbee or fishing. There are walkways and a 85-foot-tall lighthouse that was constructed in 1916 on the Erie Canal. Recently, thanks to the NYS Canal Corporation, the lighthouse has once again been lit. There are year-round activities in the Town of Hastings. In addition to Lighthouse Park, there’s good fishing at the Caughdenoy Dam on Co. Rte. 12. There are trails for hiking, snowmobiling and bicycling. 30
In the fall of 2021, an approx. 1-mile walking trail was completed at Van Lieu Park off Wilson Road. This is also the home to our Pop Warner Football team, and the recently opened Extraordinary Acres all-inclusive playground. More playground equipment and chess tables are being added in the spring of 2022. If you like a faster pace, the Brewerton Speedway, located at 60 US-11 is a ¹/³rd mile D-shaped oval dirt racetrack located in Central Square. Races are primarily on Friday nights from May-October. No visit is complete without stopping by Buck’s Seasoning in Mallory and Buttercup cheese on Rt 11. Buck’s Seasoning is a family-owned and operated business for over 60 years located at 57 Co. Rte. 32 in Mallory. Buck’s is also available at local stores including Walmart. Buck’s all natural spices will add that little extra something special to everything you cook. Buttercup Cheese located at 827 US Rt 11 is a third-generation family-owned business serving our community for decades. In addition to their cheese, they also promote other small businesses and often have baked goods, meats and a variety of other items for purchase. Village of Central Square
The Village of Central Square was incorporated in 1890. The area was the crossroads of early settlers using Native American trails. Today,Central Square continues to have that small hometown feeling. During the summer the streets are lined with Hometown Hero banners as well as benches and planters with beautiful flowers, and in the winter, there are holiday pole decorations lining the streets. The Central Square Station Museum is located at 132 Railroad Ave. It includes indoor and outdoor exhibits open on Sundays from noon to 3 p.m. Memorial Day - Columbus Day. The current museum is housed in the depot that was completed in 1909. There is also a local historical collection located at the village municipal office. It is maintained by the Village/Town historian and can be viewed by appointment. Central Square is proud of its beautiful parks. Crossroads Park & Nature Preserve is located on East Ave. It contains about 31.5 acres, much of

which is DEC wetlands, that was once mostly muck farmland. Today there is a short trail, snowmobiling in the winter and an observation deck. Ada Powell Smith Park on Fulton Ave. (St. Rte. 49) is about 21.6 acres of wetlands, scenic overlooks, and open fields and streams with various wildlife and plants. Veterans Memorial Park is located on Fulton Avenue across from the American Legion Post 915. There is a M-60 tank on display here and paved roads that are great for a quiet walk through Hillside Cemetery and Park. Also in front of the legion is a F-86 Saber Jet. Finally, Goettel Park located on 755 North Main St. has a large picnic area, gazebo, ballfield, bathroom facilities, butterfly garden and playground equipment. It is a great place for a picnic lunch, stretch your legs and run around. In the summertime on Wednesday evenings, Project Bloom hosts the Summer Concert series in July and August.
