eaver Lake Nature Center will again host one of its most popular summer programs. The center’s Wild Berry Ice Cream Hike will be held three times in July. The program will start at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, Saturday, July 21, and Wednesday, July 25. During the event, participants will go on a wild raspberry or blackberry ramble, pick the berries and then try their hand at cranking out a real cool summer treat. Beaver Lake Nature Center is located at 8477 East Mud Lake Road in Baldwinsville. The cost of the program is $5 per person and registration is required. BeatleCuse celebrates LP’s golden anniversary By Russ Tarby The group’s ninth LP was officially named “The Beatles,” but it’s known far and wide as “The White Album.” When BeatleCuse makes its move to the shores of Lake Ontario on Saturday, July 7, several dozen talented musicians will recreate the double-disc’s 45 tracks live on stage – classic songs such as “Hey Jude,” “Back in the U.S.S.R.” and “Helter Skelter.” After selling out Syracuse’s historic Palace Theater in April 2017 while focusing on the “Sgt. Pepper” album, the fifth edition of BeatleCuse moves outdoors this year to the spacious natural-grass amphitheater at Colloca Estate Winery, along the shore of Little Sodus Bay, in Fair Haven. Featuring more than 80 of Central New York’s top performing musicians, on two stages – the Main Stage along the lake, and the CNYAlive.com Acoustic Stage at Colloca’s Tasting Center & Pavilion, at 14678 West Bay Road. Dan Elliott & The Monterays kick off the concert at 12:30 p.m., and music will run continuously for full 12 hours. Early sets will be turned in by The Neverly Brothers at 2 p.m., and The Fab Femmes – Sharon Allen, Sue Karlik, Cathy LaManna, Jess Novak, Sue Royal, Sheela Tucker and Anna White – at 2:30 p.m. “And by the way,” adds BeatleCuse producer Paul Davie, “July 7th is Ringo Starr’s 78th birthday, so we’ll have one solid hour of Sir Richard Starkey’s signature hits from his career on The Beatles’ drum throne, as well as a collection of Top

10 solo singles of the 1970s.” Ringo Starr vocalized his first-known composition on “The White Album,” a song called “Don’t Pass Me By.” “The White Album” is heralded as The Beatles’ most stylistically diverse disc, running the gamut from rock’n’roll, blues, country, reggae, avant garde, hard rock and music hall. BeatleCuse 2018 will feature a reunion of Davie’s tribute act, the Fab Five, at 5 p.m. followed by the Wrecking Cuse performing “The White Album” at 6:30 p.m. The Wrecking Cuse includes Davie, Rhys Brigida, John Freund, Edgar Pagan, Pepper & Sassafras and Steve Schad. The recreation of the album’s varied repertoire will be bolstered by live strings and horns played by Melissa Gardiner, Pete Pecora, Jeff Stockham and Don Willliams plus the Opus Black String Quartet. At 9:15 p.m., three headliners will conclude the day-long concert. Former Wings guitarist Denny Laine will be followed by influential Southern California band Ambrosia and Elliott Lurie, the composer of Looking Glass’s 1972 hit “Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl).” Fireworks will explode above the lake at 10 p.m. Tickets cost $35 in advance or $40 at the door, and children ages 10 and younger will be admitted free. ‘Tykes Tuesday’ returns to Destiny USA Tuesday this summer through Aug. 28, Destiny USA will be the site of family-friendly fun for kids of all ages. Now in its sixth year at Destiny USA, “Tykes Tuesday” offers a new activity every week from noon-2 p.m. in Destiny USA’s Canyon Area for families looking for something fun to do over the summer break. The activities, which will be sponsored both by retailers and entertainment venues in Destiny USA, as well as by local organizations, aim to provide educational entertainment for children up to age 12. The program is sponsored by Margaritaville, located on the third level of the Canyon, and is free for both children and parents.
