Temperatures this past summer did not appear to slow in their rise to the triple digits; with some parts of the country reaching up to 117 degrees Fahrenheit, the drought continued to test the will of students. Kansas City laid in the heart of the drought, 2012 being the 7th driest season. The dryness of the 2012 summer nearly reached that of the Dust Bowl, nearly suffocating those brave enough to leave their houses. source: climate.missouri.edu
