Dear Rising EVHS Athletes:

Don’t do anything that will not help you achieve your dreams. When making decisions, if it in no way pushed me towards my goals, I did not do it. Even if something “wouldn’t hurt” or “wouldn’t make a difference”, I wouldn’t do it. This is how I approached every decision I made during high school. Many people ma ke decisions based on what makes them happy. The problem is that these decisions are made upon immediate and temporary happiness. If you truly want to achieve happiness and success in the long run, your decisions will look different than if you want immediate happiness. Yes, not doing your homework and playing video games will maybe make you happy for a little while, but once the test rolls around and you are not prepared it, you will be unsatisfied.

It comes down to this: if you want something, go get it. No one is stopping you. People make excuses every day on why they aren’t doing this and why they’re not doing well in that. If you truly want to get something done, it will get done. It will take sacrifice, you won’t always be able to do what you want, but in the long run you will achieve your goals and be where you want to be. On the other hand, if you don’t want to do it, or just kind of want to do it, then that’s okay. Being successful at something isn’t for everyone. A lot of people are fine with staying under the radar and being mediocre. But if you want to be great, go do it. Put the time in, make sacrifices, make good decisions and you will be successful.

However, being great at something doesn’t mean that you disrespect anyone around you. Respect your teachers, because they want the best for you. Respect your coaches, because if you work together with them you can make the team great. Respect your teammates, because without them your team will not be successful. Coaches at the next level like winners. Athletes that are one of many great players on a team and are used to winning are much more recruitable than one great player on a poor team. Respect officials, fans and everyone associated with your games. It’s easy to watch from the stands, so just keep that in mind when people talk about how you play.

Don’t give anyone a reason to criticize you. Be great at everything you do and take pride in being the best overall person you can be. Spend time with your family, because they will miss you once you’ve gone to college. Spend time with your teammates, because the bonds that you create with them will last forever.

Whether you want to play college sports or not, be great at everything you do. Leave a positive legacy so that when people think of you they remember a hard-working, dedicated student athlete. If you do want to play college sports, start contacting coaches and letting them know that you’re interested. Don’t worry if you don’t get a response, just remember that it is a numbers game, and the more options you explore the better fit your final destination will be.

In closing, just remember that it’s up to you. If you want to play sports in college, go do it. If you want to get a 4.0 so that a coach picks you over another recruit, get it done. Nobody is stopping you. Your teachers and coaches are there to help you and guide you, but it is not up to them. Be proud of yourself and have confidence every day to be the best.

Good Luck Devils,

EVHS PTO BOOSTER CLUB BACKGROUND INFORMATION

A small group of interested parents have been collaboratively working together over the past seven months as part of a grassroots effort to revive the booster club. As we begin the 2022-23 school year and more specifically, our Fall sports season, we are excited to announce that we are officially ready to relaunch the EVHS Booster Club.

The EVHS Booster Club is committed to leading with integrity, energy, enthusiasm and a high level of student, parent and community engagement. Our goals are to:

• Provide transparency (through the posting of information on the website) as to how much money is raised and what the funds are being spent on.

• Distribute the funds raised within the same year they are raised or the very next year.

• Promote parent and community involvement in school activities and events through volunteer opportunities, communication, and invitations.

• Promote school spirit and a positive school culture.

• Listen to understand the needs and desires of our constituents and welcome feedback to strengthen our work.

MISSION - EVHS BOOSTER CLUB

The EVHS Booster Club encourages student, parent and community participation and investment in our Eagle Valley High School CHSAA sponsored programs and raises funds to support, enhance and expand the CHSAA programs available to each student. The EVHS Booster Club believes that student, parent and community involvement in our high school as well as school spirit and a positive school culture is key to maintaining a winning edge in its athletic programs/activities and in providing students a positive, cohesive, engaging and well rounded high school experience.

CURRENT FUNDRAISERS

We currently have two fundraisers that are underway that can be found on the EVHS website under athletics, booster club (https://evhs.eagleschools.net/clubs-activities/booster-club).

The two fundraisers include the following:

1. Fork your Family and Friends

You can join in the fun by having your friends or foes “Forked” by the EVHS Booster Club. You get to pick the friend, family or teammate to be forked, and the Booster club will place EVHS Devil sign cutouts in their yard after dark, having them awaken to a yard full of Devils and their pitchforks! We recommend a minimum donation of $50, but larger donations can skip to the top of the Forked waitlist. Please sign up on the EVHS website under athletics, booster club.

2. Yard Sign Sales

Purchase your EVHS sports, activity or graduation yard sign on the EVHS website under athletics, booster club. The Fall deadline to purchase a yard sign is August 31, 2022 so, get your order in today. Please be sure to pass these fun fundraising opportunities to your family and friends.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED

There is no fee to join the Booster Club. To officially join the Booster Club and receive information and updates from the booster club, please share your information with us on the EVHS website under athletics, booster club. There are several ways to get involved in supporting our students including joining one of our many committees that help to organize and coordinate events. You can serve as the team representative on a sports team or activity, sell sponsorship opportunities, be a sponsor, make a donation, volunteer at events, buy spirit wear and more. If you would like to get involved, please complete our registration link and tell us how you would like to participate. If you have a specific talent or interest that we have not listed that you think would add value to the work we are doing, please let us know.
