REVITALIZATION OF FLOWER GARDEN, KROMERIZ 2009 TU Brno
The main character of the site in Dubrovnik can be described as a undefined open space. Right now there is a narrow road leading up to the plateau which is used as a parking space. The road then continues westwards to a nearby chapel. The exposed site ofers a wide view around, not only over the sea but also eastwards to the old town of Dubrovnik. A determinant characteristic of the site is the immediate neighbour - the fortress. It stands exposed on the rock giving a clue of what kind of volume the new building cold react to. From the very start we wanted to use the exposed site as our platform. Visible from the old town we wanted to create a counterbalan ce to the dominating fortress. The programm inside was divided by its func tions. Functions of the congress such a wardrobe, restrooms, a bar and rooms for utilities are organiced along the east façade, leaving a free space of 18 by 55m. That space is a continuation of the outer plateau and has a “public“ character. People can enter the ground floor even if they are not attending the congress. They dont interfere. There are two elements in that space. Each of them contains stairs and an elevator giving access to the main function of the congress - the auditorium and the congress hall. They can be discribed as two seperate volumes which are suspen ded from the roof structure. They elevate in a hight of 4 m and maintain a gap of 2 m on either side for proper illumination through sky lights which are situated inbetween the bea ring reinforced concrete beams. The 18by 55 m parcel can be used for breaks or for various events outside the congress time, such as exi bitions, parties or other gatherings. Furthermore, two floors of offices are situated as well along the east façade creating the 2nd and 3rd floor. The basement which is orienta ted to the south inhabits seminar rooms, restrooms and storage.

GRAZ HAS CHANGED. NO MORE GREY, NARROW ALLEYS AND STREETS. NO CARS, NO TRAFFIC JAMS. THE CITY LIFE HAS BEEN ELEVATED. IT IS NOW FLOATING IN A HEIGHT OF 150-300 M. PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SPACES ARE RATIONALIZED INTO MODULS OF 30X30X150 M AND CREATE A GIANT MESH. PEOPLE ARE FREE TO TRAVEL INSIDE THAT MESH. IT PROVIDES ENOUGH SPACE FOR PROPER DAYLIGHT BUT IS STILL DENSE ENOUGH FOR SHORT CONNECTIONS.

DESIGN IN ARCHITECTURE
2008 | 2009 UT Brno
CD case is inspired by scandinavian design and its sence for simplicity, purity, utility and availability. As well using natural materials like paper / wood combined with felt makes the product very haptic. Felt stripe is not only decorative element, it helps to connect both case parts together and eases to pull out the CD disc.
