CONCERT Series 2017 / 18

First Thursday of every month at 7:30pm See our website for new concert dates to be announced throughout the year. £10 admission include canapés and wine – Free entry for patients

Just come and enjoy the music, it’s relaxing! You can have a nice glass of wine and there’s good entertainment. I thought it was really good to see something different. It’s very intimate and very friendly and it’s nice that the music is so close to you. I will definitely come again! The fact it’s a hospice never entered into my thoughts, I just enjoyed the concert! Superb! It’s an ideal venue: you’ve got the gardens, the café and a lovely environment. It’s not what you expect, it’s very open and friendly, there’s so much going on – it’s not about death and gloom, it’s just a friendly happy place to be. I love it!

Earl Mountbatten Community Choir The Earl Mountbatten Community Choir launched in January 2017. The choir meets each Wednesday evening, 6.30 – 8.15 pm in the John Cheverton Centre. Anyone is welcome to come along and join in – we are a non-auditioning choir and the ability to read music is not needed, all that is required is the desire to sing!

The confidence of the choir is developing by the week and we enjoy singing a wonderful range of uplifting songs from modern pop classics to traditional songs from around the world. We have a membership of around 60 people and new members are welcome to join us at any time. The choir is based on the premise that everyone can sing and that singing is good for us. We aim to be inclusive and, first and foremost, to have fun. If you would like more information, you can contact Fraser Simpson by phone 07834 322316 or email fraser.simpson@iwhospice.org

Enjoy our hospitality in the John Cheverton Centre The John Cheverton Centre at Earl Mountbatten Hospice is very much designed to be a social space and is home to our popular Sunflower Café, which is open to the general public. A range of art classes and music therapy sessions provide a creative element to what we offer, to both patients and the wider community. We also have an art gallery, which changes every month, offering space for Island artists to display their work and visitors to enjoy many different forms and styles of art.

visiting a hospice, unless to visit a relative or friend. Many people are uncomfortable talking about death and dying, and may have a pre‑conceived idea of what a hospice looks like and what we can offer. Our Social Programme aims to change this and show that Earl Mountbatten Hospice is about our community sharing good times together. All our events offer opportunities to dispel myths and change perceptions. Our aim is to encourage Islanders to visit the hospice and see that it is a warm, friendly and welcoming environment, unless to visit a relative or friend who is dying.

Visit us: Our Sunflower Café is open between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Friday, and 10am to 4pm, Saturday and Sunday. Serving a selection of delicious hot and cold food and drinks, and a traditional roast lunch from 12noon to 2pm on Sundays. Our Art Gallery is open 9am to 5pm, every day of the week and can be found in the main hospice building, behind the chapel and adjacent courtyard.
