EASINGTON SPORTS FOOTBALL CLUB
THE CHAIRMAN Good afternoon and welcome to Addison Road. It is great to have a home fixture after a run of away days and this afternoon we host Eynesbury Rovers who are another new side to face this season. We do hope that all those connected with their club enjoy their time with us today. The league table is certainly beginning to take shape and it is clear that we are in for another tough encounter. As our squad begins to settle down after an horrendous spell of injuries, I hope the first team management can find a way to convert more encourages performances into points. We have found goals hard to come by this season and so lets hope for better luck in front of goal this afternoon. Away from the match itself this afternoon, I am pleased to announce that our floodlights have passed their inspection carried out by Sports Ground Development on behalf of the league. We have also begun to engage with the Football Foundation to help secure the funds for ground grading improvements that need to be carried out before March 31st. We will try to keep you posted of any significant developments. Lastly, we may have fewer spectators at the ground this afternoon as our local neighbours embark on another exciting evening in the FA Cup First round proper. This has sparked a lot of interest and with a 5.15pm kick off; I know that a number of our regulars have taken the opportunity to watch this game instead. We will forgive them on this occasion!!!... and we wish Banbury United the best of luck as they entertain Barrow FC from League 2. Fingers crossed the two sides on show this afternoon serve up an entertaining game of our own! All good wishes
Best wishes Richard Meadows Chairman

EASINGTON SPORTS FOOTBALL CLUB
Good evening and welcome to Addison Road, Despite finding our feet for a number of games, we are now in a period of league games where some of the small things that we still weren't happy with as a coaching staff have now started to cost us points. Quickly, this season has become about building foundations, learning a new league and consolidating our status at this level of football following a disrupted period with lockdowns. Personally, I am not content with this; it is too comfortable and easy to accept this and allows for complacency, something that has crept into our performances. Conceding in the last 10 minutes of each of our previous three league games is evidence of this and our standards need to rise as we approach the end of the year. October was a much more successful month for us on the whole, and although we didn't finish it as well as we would have liked, our points haul for the month has given us some room to breathe. We continue to set some small in-house targets based on upcoming games and the new month allows us to focus on a new challenge with some important players coming back into the side as well as two more new additions. We will continue to transform the squad throughout the season until we are happy that the high standards required to compete in this league are able to be met on a consistent basis. Eynesbury were able to get plenty of points on the board early this season which has allowed them to hold a top half position throughout. That being said, they have had some upheaval with a tough run of fixtures, some player changes and now also a change of manager. Considering league positions and both teams' immediate form, Eynesbury will be coming into today's game looking to pick up all three points. We need to make sure we are back to our best with the ball and work tirelessly without it. Good luck to Eynesbury for the rest of the season. Best Regards
Matt Giles Manager

MATCH REPORT GNG Oadby Town FC 2 v 1 Easington Sports FC Sports lose by one goal again. Second away defeat frustrates Sports. Matt Giles will rue missed first half chances and wasted possession In another game which ended in a narrow defeat. In an even first half, Sports dominated possession and created some good opportunities yet it was the hosts who took the lead on the 20th minute. The pattern continued in the first half with Sports behind at the break. In the second half Sports lacked tempo and struggled to create a chance. GNG Oadby Town were gifted a second when Lloyd Sabin attempted to head the ball back to Joe White only for the ball to loop over the keeper. Sports were given a lifeline when in the last minute the hosts themselves scored an own goal but the game was managed well and Sports suffered defeat.

EASINGTON SPORTS FOOTBALL CLUB
EASINGTON SPORTS FC HISTORY The Club was formed in the immediate post-war period of 1945/46 to fulfill the sporting and social needs of the young people of the Easington housing estate in Banbury, many of who were returning from war service. The Club, then known as ‘The Clan’, soon prospered, as there was an obvious need for such a facility, and formed a cricket, tennis and a ladies section. Football was, however, the main branch of the Club’s activity, and they began playing in the local Junior Leagues as Easington Sports F.C. The football was played on pastureland to the west of Wykham Lane, and for a few years endured the lack of facilities enjoyed today by almost all clubs. (No water available on site, no real changing facilities to name but two of the privations to be met on a cold winter’s afternoon). Fortunately, this situation was soon to change, for as a result of tireless fund raising by all concerned and some dedicated work by stalwarts such as Gordon Vivash, Tim Fountain and many other committed club members, the prospect of a new ground owned by the Club became a reality. The purchase of the Addison Road ground and the building of a clubroom, together with the Club’s entry to the Oxfordshire Senior League was the beginning of senior football for Sports, and to their credit they proved to be a formidable force at that level. (Becoming winners and finalists in the Senior Cup and heading the Premier League table on two occasions in the early and mid-fifties). In view of their success at county level the Club sought entry, and was accepted into the old Warwickshire Combination, which at that time counted professional and semiprofessional teams. (Aston Villa ‘A’, West Bromwich Albion ‘B’ and teams which now grace the Conference as members). Although having moderate success in this competition, as with many other amateur clubs; finance played its part in the decision to return to the Oxfordshire Senior League, where the expenses, in particular travelling, were much more in line with the club’s limited income. Looking to raise their standards once more, the Club sought entry to the Hellenic League. Subject to certain ground improvements they were readily accepted, and have remained as members of Division One ever since. With some ‘ups and downs’, Sport’s have almost always been mid-table at the end of each season, which, considering their amateur status against mostly professional or well-sponsored opponents has not been too bad a record. The Club has always sought to give the youngsters of Banbury and district an opportunity to get into senior football, and indeed beyond, and has continually run youth teams at various age levels. Wishing all those whose ability took them to higher levels good luck, and feeling grateful that the club gave them the start/plat- form to their careers. It has sometimes been said that Easington Sports have not been ambitious or forward looking enough in their sixty years, but shrewd and cautious stewardship by series of committees over the years have ensured that the club has never overreached itself financially, and has remained faithful to its original ideals to provide football of a good standard for local youth. In 2019 the club were awarded Community Charter Standard Status and currently have 35 affiliated teams. Our youth teams include both boys and girls and our open age section now includes three male, two female and a pan disability squad. We remain committed to providing those in the local community with a pathway into football. Our lateral movement into the UCLS for 2021 /2022 provides a welcome new challenge.

EASINGTON SPORTS FOOTBALL CLUB
After two incomplete seasons in the Spartan South Midlands League Eynesbury Rovers have returned to the United Counties League Premier Division South. The club were formed in 1897 and played friendly matches before joining the Biggleswade & District League and then the St Neots Junior League, which they won in 1910/11 and 1913/14. They lifted the Huntingdonshire Senior Cup for the first time in 1914 and won the County Junior Cup in 1921, 1927 and 1932. Whilst the first team competed in the Bedford & District League First Division Eynesbury’s Reserves won 2nd Division championships in 1927, 1931 and 1932. In 1934 Eynesbury joined the South Midlands League and promotion was achieved at the first attempt whilst the Scott-Gatty Cup was won, but Senior Cup finals in 1937 and 1939 ended in defeat. The post war era began with Rovers joining the United Counties League and they enjoyed spectacular cup success winning the Hunts Senior Cup and Hinchingbrooke Cup four times each in a five year period. In the 1950-51 campaign a Premier Cup success made it a cup hat trick. In 1952 Eynesbury joined the Eastern Counties League finishing fourth in their second season. In 1955 a crowd of 4,000 packed into Hall Road to watch a friendly against Fulham with the legendary Stanley Matthews guesting for Rovers. The club continued to enjoy cup success lifting the Senior Cup in 1955 and 1957, the Hinchingbrooke Cup in 1959 and Cambs Invitation Cup in 1962, but they were finding life difficult in the league. In 1963 they rejoined the UCL. Successes in the Hinchingbrooke Cup in 1967 and Hunts Senior Cup in 1970 masked a continued decline and relegation was suffered in 1972. A top flight place was regained in 1977 and floodlights were installed in 1981 with Luton Town providing the opposition for the official opening in front of a four figure crowd. The Hunts Senior Cup was won in 1985 before Gary Pilsworth enjoyed great success as manager, leading Eynesbury to a best ever third place in the league, two Hunts Senior Cup wins, a Premier Cup success and two East Anglian Cup finals, and Alan Day kept the momentum going with a 1993 Senior Cup success. Barry Cavilla was next in the hot seat and the 199596 campaign saw Eynesbury finish fifth in the league and win both the Senior and Premier Cups. Peter Schofield took over and done well to keep the team in the Premier Division on a small budget. Neil King returned and enjoyed success in the Hunts Senior Cup in 2000 but was followed by relegation a year later. Steve Galbraith took over and in 2002 Rovers again won the Senior Cup beating local rivals St Neots Town 3-0 in the final, while the 2003-04 campaign saw them reach the Huntingdonshire Premier Cup final only to lose 4-2 to Wootton Blue Cross. In the summer of 2005 Dean Shipp took charge and the following season Rovers reached the final of the South Midlands Floodlit Cup losing 2-1 to Saffron Walden. In December 2007 Rovers appointed the management duo of Al Lenihan and former player Pat O'Keeffe. Season 2008/09 saw Rovers near the top of the table for most of the season but had to settle for 9th place after being deducted six points. Al & Pat resigned at the end of that season and Eynesbury appointed Matt Plumb to take charge for the start of the 2009/10 campaign and with Martin Field he guided Rovers back to the Premier Division in 2013/14. In a record breaking season they finished with a record number of points (98) and goals (118) and recorded a club record 11 consecutive wins. Lee Bassett became the first Eynesbury player to score 50 goals in a season. Matt Plumb took on the role of chairman in the summer of 2015 before Martin Field resigned in October 2015. Mark Ducket was appointed as manager and in four campaigns he has led Rovers to three Hunts Senior Cup Finals, winning 1-0 against St Neots Town in 2017. Whilst in the same season recording 119 league goals whilst equaling their second best ever league placing finishing fifth. In 2019/20 Rovers rejoined the Spartan South Midlands League and enjoyed their best ever run in the FA Vase reaching the 4 th Round. In January 2020 Mark Ducket left to manage Bedford Town and Rovers appointed Steve Kuhne as his replacement. He resigned in October 2021 and ex-professional Rob Sinclair has been appointed as his replacement.
