EASINGTON SPORTS FOOTBALL CLUB

THE CHAIRMAN Good evening and welcome to Addison Road.

I would like to offer a special warm welcome to all those connected with Hinkley LRFC who are our visitors today. The games continue to come thick and fast and they perhaps do not come tougher than our opponents this evening. Hinkley boast a 100% record so far this season after 16 straight victories and so it is going to be a stern test of the first team. Looking back, the weekend performance was very encouraging and so you never know what might happen. Our best performance of the season came against Coventry United at home in a mid-week fixture, and at the time they were undefeated. I hope we can continue to give a good account of ourselves against one of the leagues bigger clubs and it is a great test for our younger players who have aspirations to go and play at a higher standard. For those who are more regular visitors to the ground, you will have noticed we have been asked to kick off at 7.45pm this evening. This means the end of the game will be much closer to our 10pm cut off. We would be grateful if you could respect the local residents on your way home as you exit Addison Road by driving slowly as you leave. Lets hope we have a great game to watch this evening and have a safe journey home.

Best wishes Richard Meadows Chairman

EASINGTON SPORTS FOOTBALL CLUB

Good evening and welcome to Addison Road, Saturday was a step in the right direction following my comments in the build up. We showed a greater desire to add to our lead than with have previously when in winning positions. This is something we need to continue with. As I eluded to on Saturday, complacency is not going to be tolerated as we continue to search for points to take us up the league table. I have high expectations of every player who is selected to play for the first team and a win in our previous match means nothing if we cannot back it up with another positive performance. Saturday's win sets us on our way towards achieving this month's in-house target. I thought both Harry Brock and Alex Stott had a positive impact in their first starts for the club. I am also very happy, as is Lucas, that he scored his first goals for the club, the first one showing the desire I have spoken about and the second one being a very composed finish from the penalty spot; not always easy at a young age. Unfortunately, Saturday brought us some injuries again with Lewis Baldwin, Alfie Dunn and Piers Walton all missing out tonight from our improved showing. Hinckley are top. They have won 16 out of 16 league games and conceded only 9 goals. They are efficient and ruthless. They will come to Addison Road expecting to win. As I said above, we need to put on a positive performance. When we go into games with the right mindset, we are more than capable of competing in this league against the best sides; tonight should be no different. Good luck to Hinckley for the rest of the season. Best Regards

Matt Giles Manager

MATCH REPORT Easington Sports FC 3 v 0 Eynesbury Rovers FC Dominant Sports win against 10 man visitors. Walton and Northover score to secure the three points. After recent decents this was a much improved performance and A victory which gave confidence for the squad as they approach further tough league fixtures Both Harry Brock and Alex Stott made their home debuts. It was Piers Walton who looked lively up front early on and when clean through his shot was saved only for the rebound to fall kindly to him allowing him to head into an empty net. Sports continued to dominate the first half without extending their lead. In the second half it wasn’t long before Sports put the game beyond the visitors. Good work by Stott saw Northover tap in at the far post. Shortly afterwards the visitors were reduced to 10 men for a cynical foul in the penalty box. Northover scored his second from the spot Matt Giles will be pleased with the performance, three points and clean sheet with tougher challenges ahead.

EASINGTON SPORTS FOOTBALL CLUB

EASINGTON SPORTS FC HISTORY The Club was formed in the immediate post-war period of 1945/46 to fulfill the sporting and social needs of the young people of the Easington housing estate in Banbury, many of who were returning from war service. The Club, then known as ‘The Clan’, soon prospered, as there was an obvious need for such a facility, and formed a cricket, tennis and a ladies section. Football was, however, the main branch of the Club’s activity, and they began playing in the local Junior Leagues as Easington Sports F.C. The football was played on pastureland to the west of Wykham Lane, and for a few years endured the lack of facilities enjoyed today by almost all clubs. (No water available on site, no real changing facilities to name but two of the privations to be met on a cold winter’s afternoon). Fortunately, this situation was soon to change, for as a result of tireless fund raising by all concerned and some dedicated work by stalwarts such as Gordon Vivash, Tim Fountain and many other committed club members, the prospect of a new ground owned by the Club became a reality. The purchase of the Addison Road ground and the building of a clubroom, together with the Club’s entry to the Oxfordshire Senior League was the beginning of senior football for Sports, and to their credit they proved to be a formidable force at that level. (Becoming winners and finalists in the Senior Cup and heading the Premier League table on two occasions in the early and mid-fifties). In view of their success at county level the Club sought entry, and was accepted into the old Warwickshire Combination, which at that time counted professional and semiprofessional teams. (Aston Villa ‘A’, West Bromwich Albion ‘B’ and teams which now grace the Conference as members). Although having moderate success in this competition, as with many other amateur clubs; finance played its part in the decision to return to the Oxfordshire Senior League, where the expenses, in particular travelling, were much more in line with the club’s limited income. Looking to raise their standards once more, the Club sought entry to the Hellenic League. Subject to certain ground improvements they were readily accepted, and have remained as members of Division One ever since. With some ‘ups and downs’, Sport’s have almost always been mid-table at the end of each season, which, considering their amateur status against mostly professional or well-sponsored opponents has not been too bad a record. The Club has always sought to give the youngsters of Banbury and district an opportunity to get into senior football, and indeed beyond, and has continually run youth teams at various age levels. Wishing all those whose ability took them to higher levels good luck, and feeling grateful that the club gave them the start/plat- form to their careers. It has sometimes been said that Easington Sports have not been ambitious or forward looking enough in their sixty years, but shrewd and cautious stewardship by series of committees over the years have ensured that the club has never overreached itself financially, and has remained faithful to its original ideals to provide football of a good standard for local youth. In 2019 the club were awarded Community Charter Standard Status and currently have 35 affiliated teams. Our youth teams include both boys and girls and our open age section now includes three male, two female and a pan disability squad. We remain committed to providing those in the local community with a pathway into football. Our lateral movement into the UCLS for 2021 /2022 provides a welcome new challenge.

EASINGTON SPORTS FOOTBALL CLUB

Leicester Road Football Club was formed immediately after Hinckley United Football Club ent into liquidation in October 2013 to continue the development of the youth and junior players left without a club and was incorporated on the 4th November 2013 by the four surviving directors.

The former head Football Development and all his staff transitioned over to Leicester Road along with the U21,U18, U16, U15 and U14 squads. This enabled all the squads to continue their football development seamlessly without any impact from the liquidation.

The U18 Youth Team continued in the Midland Youth Floodlit League Premier Division. The U16, U15 and U14 squads all retained their membership of the Midland Junior Premier League. The U18 Youth Team completed a remarkable Midland Floodlit Youth League Premier Division North, Midland Floodlit Youth Cup and Leicestershire County Cup treble.

The Senior Squad was established from the U21 and U18 squads and applied for membership of the Midland Football League. Leicester Road Football Club started the 2014 -15 season in the Midland Football league Division 2 and finished second to Coventry United to gain promotion to Division One. Leicester Road Football Club was awarded the FA Chartered Standard on October 2015. During the next four seasons Leicester Road finished in the top five of the Midland Football League Division One every season and in the first 3 of those seasons also won the Midland Football League Fair Play Award, Throughout the same period the club retained the same manager and largely the same squad with most players amassing over 150 games.

When the 2019/20 season was eventually expunged Leicester Road sat in the top spot using the unweighted points per game mechanism and when the 2020/21 was curtailed again Leicester Road Football Club were top using the unweighted points per game mechanism.

When it was announced that the NLS would continue with its restructuring plan, Leicester Road were invited to apply for upward movement and as a result placed at Step 5 in of the United Counties League Premier South for the 2021/2022 season
