Swing – Big Tyre
The Swing is a playground classic.. You will need 2.5” 3mm mild steel pipe, 2” galvanised pipe, swing hangers, chain, a very large tractor tyre, metal and budget paint. You will also need to cement in the foundations of the swings. Make sure you have at least 1.5 metres of space either side of the swings and at least 3 metres in front and behind.

Cut of the rim of the very large tyre and make sure there are not wires or sharp bits. Weld the frames to the measurements in the diagrams. Make sure that there are no sharp edges. Dig the foundations as shown in the diagram. Before cementing in the frame sand and paint with undercoat the section of metal that will be going in the foundation.
6. Place the swing in the foundations and make sure it is level on all axes. 7. Cement in the frame. 8. Divide the chain into 4 equal sections and weld one end of each to one upright pole level with the A frame crossbar. 9. Attach the other ends to the tyre at 90 degree intervals. 10. Paint Colour Scheme Paint the uprights of the A frame one colour either green or blue Paint the crossbar and the crossbar of the A frames purple (to match with green) or yellow (to match blue)
