An orthosis is used to reduce or eliminate friction between the toes or between the shoe and the toes. This way painful pressure spots, chafing spots, wounds or corns prevent or reduce rubbing and can relieve pain when wearing shoes. An orthosis can be a solution for your complaints in the case of a deviating toe position. It can have different functions: support, stabilization, correction, immobilization or relief.
When to use an orthosis?
Orthoses are used for claw toes, hammer toes and toes growing over or under each other. Due to the clawed position of the toes, the friction with the shoe often causes complaints on the top of the toes. In this case, the tips of the toes are also pressed into the ground, which can make them feel painful. In addition, calluses and painful corns often develop. We correct the toe position with an orthosis. This reduces the pressure and your foot complaints often even disappear completely. An orthosis also has a pressurereducing effect on corns and calluses.
