FROM THE HEADMASTER

Welcome to the first of our Lent term round-ups

Since the children returned from the Christmas break, they have been bursting with enthusiasm and embracing new challenges and opportunities It is always a joy to see staff and children working side by side - innovating, collaborating and striving for excellence in all they do

We were delighted to receive our latest Independent Schools Inspection report, which affirmed the exceptional breadth of education, care and learning experiences we offer Particularly rewarding was the recognition of our significant strength in pastoral care and pupil wellbeing - values at the heart of everything we do. This was reinforced by a visit from wellbeing expert Alicia Drummond, whose insights resonated with pupils, parents and staff alike

We are also incredibly proud to be the first boarding prep school in the country to receive the prestigious EAL Gold Award, recognising our commitment to supporting pupils for whom English is an additional language This reflects our dedication to creating an inclusive, welcoming environment where every child can thrive

Our pupils have achieved so much already this year Sporting success has been impressive, with standout performances in rugby, netball, cross-country and table tennis But beyond the victories, we have been celebrating the dedication and teamwork shown by every child who has represented the school.

As always, our performing arts are flourishing! I marvelled at the pupils showcasing their talents in the spectacular Gala Concert and our recent scholarship performance evening was equally impressive, providing an invaluable opportunity for dedicated pupils to prepare for senior school scholarships Whether or not they secured an award, their commitment and love of learning will serve them well in the future Lower down the school, the Nursery has been enjoying role play, while the Pre-Prep has been getting stuck into some serious storytelling. Meanwhile, Years 5 and 6 are putting the final touches on their production of Moana, set to take the stage in a few weeks’ time and the Seniors will soon be embarking on rehearsals for High School Musical It’s all go!

Hosting our parents for our first ever Open Evening, where the pupils guided to Art, DTI, Drama, Music, ICT and Sport was a huge success and not only enabled the parents to see what their children had been learning, with great enthusiasm and pride, but allow parents to see the stunning work the children of all ages produce - some of which is adorning the walls and windowsills of my study but also the corridors and shared spaces in school.

If you would like to talk about the next step for your child, please do contact Catherina Ashford on 01323 733203 or email admissions@standrewsprep.co.uk. We’re here to help.

Wishing everyone a fantastic half term
