Dear Graduates,

Dear Graduates,

I am absolutely thrilled to be congratulating each and every one of you on this momentous occasion. Today is a celebration of you, and marks the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Be incredibly proud of what you have accomplished—we sure are.

I have no doubt that each and every one of you will go on to achieve great things, both personally and professionally. You are leaving Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) equipped with the tools, knowledge, and skills needed to succeed in a rapidly-changing world. You created lasting friendships, connections, and memories that will shape your lives for years to come. And you are stepping into the world with a sense of purpose and a commitment to make a positive impact in your community.

You came to us as recent high school graduates, first-generation students, parents, and adults. And you trusted us to provide a remarkable education and the support to achieve your dreams. You opened yourself to new challenges, and you opened yourself to us, sharing your goals and lived experiences. We are so grateful. The mark your EICC education has had on your life is equal to the mark you’ve made in ours. We have so valued you and our time together.

As you move forward, remember that your education is not just a piece of paper, it is a blazing symbol of your dedication and commitment to growth. Be proud. Celebrate. Share your accomplishment with the world. You will forever be a part of our EICC family, and we will always support you and cheer you on. Live in your truth—You Deserve MORE! As THE Community’s College, I sincerely hope that we provided the “MORE” you need for lifelong success.

Once again, congratulations on this incredible achievement. I can’t wait to witness all you will accomplish in the years to come.

Regards,

Sonya J. Williams, PhD Chancellor, Eastern Iowa Community Colleges
