PADDINGTON-WOOLLAHRA RSL SUB-BRANCH ANZAC DAY SERVICE

For the first time in two years, Australians can attend Anzac Day commemorations in Australia.

Paddington-Woollahra RSL Sub-Branch are hosting an ANZAC Service on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at 11am at the Paddington Cenotaph in Barracks Reserve, opposite Paddo RSL and outside Victoria Barracks.

There will be ceremonial representatives from the defence forces along with special guest speakers and local community representatives.

This year marks the 107th Anniversary of the Gallipoli landings, in addition, this year there are commemorations for three other anniversaries:

1. 80th Anniversary of WWII battles to the north of Australia (Milne Bay, Kokoda, Buna-Gona) as well as the attacks on Darwin and Sydney Harbour among others.

2. 50th Anniversary of the withdrawal of the Task Force from Nui Dat which effectively ended troop deployments to Vietnam. 3. 1st Anniversary of the withdrawal from Afghanistan and the end of Australia’s large-scale military commitment to the Middle East

All families and the community are welcome to attend this commemoration.

The sub-branch is also organising a family friendly event at Centennial Park at 10am on Thursday, May 5, 2022, where they will be encouraging everyone to walk a lap of Centennial Park titled ‘walk a mile in my shoes’. Walk, or if you prefer, ride your bike, scooter, roller blades, push a pram or just have a cuppa in support of veterans, all welcome!

Coffee and refreshments will also be provided after the event, RSVP to
