19 Flipside Fairytale by Amaris Kellow
The following photographs, titled “The Flipside Fairytales”, take our well-known and cherished fairytale characters and brilliantly place them in our present day world through the artists’ use of vibrant colors and subtle details. Bobby Bates, professional Photographer/Videographer first unveiled his work at The Flipside Fairytale Art Show/Auction in Somerset, New Jersey back in August with his friend and fellow artist, Addison Vincent. When asked what his inspiration was for bringing the fairytale characters / theme into our modern day setting, Bobby explained, “I chose the pieces I did to really step outside the box and really not over think it but still incorporate my style and being original.”

28 Chris P. Jones by Jacqueline Grandstaff
The first night I met Chris P. Jones we were going to curate his pop art show at El Segundo restaurant. Chris was coming to my house to pick me up and I had not seen his art before and had no idea what to expect. As I came down my steps to meet him I spied his wild hair and then met him face to face. I immediately loved his manner and especially thought the fact that he was wearing swimming goggles, cut off clothing, and beat up converse was cool. We then piled into his minivan which was loaded with his pieces. As his pieces were revealed to me one by one, I saw color bursting, bright, bold, explosive and they immediately started provoking conversation among everybody that was there that night.

A pair of clean socks can go a long way. Just ask Montag the Magnificent. Montag is the frontman and lead guitarist for surf rock band The Great White Caps; acting as conductor of the symphonic undersea symphony that is tantalizing audiences up and down the East Coast and now reaching fans across the country. “That is really key when you’re living in a van mostly. It feels pretty amazing to walk in clean socks,” Montag says. But the life aquatic isn’t always smooth sailing. “You need a whole lot of patience.”
