Medusa Sunbeach is a huge electronic music festival held in the Spanish coastal town of Cullera. From 9 to 14 August visually spectacular stages play host to a lineup of superstars from the worlds of EDM, house, hardstyle and techno.

The neighbourhood of Fornet de Altea welcomes hundreds of young people who are keen to participate in one of the most ancestral and anticipated events that are held to celebrate the arrival of the summer. This is a ceremony that the youngsters repeat year after year, during the Festival of St. John, in homage to the Celtic tradition of worshipping the fertility of their land. One of the most emotive moments of the celebration is when the tree reaches the square. Here everyone helps to get the trunk of the poplar into the earth.

International Cultural Festival

On the last weekend in June, the beautiful town of Jávea holds its International Festival, a mix of culture, gastronomy, music and world class dance, with stalls representing 19 countries where visitors can sample typical products from different regions. The festival has become a landmark in Jávea where the days leading up to the opening are filled with activities and ceremonies to celebrate the start of the happening, including the parade on 25 June for receiving and presenting of the attending countries

Feria de Artesanía

The old town centre of Altea is the setting for the Handicrafts Fair that is held every year in the square in front of the Church in this little Alicante town.

The traditional Moors and Christians festival is held in Benissa on the closest weekend to the 20th of June, in honour of Saint Peter the Apostle.

Voramar Street Jazz week

Those who visit the peaceful town of Moraira in the month of August can enjoy live Jazz music while they follow a route that the local Department of Tourism has set up through the town’s streets.

“Bous a la mar”

The quintessential party of the town of Dénia, which has now been adopted by other nearby towns in the Valencia region. The event has been staged for more than 100 years, with the local youth creating a real spectacle as they attempt to drive the bulls into the water, although they are not allowed to push or touch them, a far from simple task, with the lads are trying their hardest to drive the bulls into the water where a boat awaits to return them to the ring set up at the port.
