Hopetoun Tearooms, Melbourne

A Melbourne institution, the Hopetoun Tearooms are a must-visit on any trip to Melbourne. After 128 years of serving up delicious cakes, tarts and pies, the tearooms are moving from the historic Block Arcade to their new premises the a 161 year old heritage Kozminsky building on Bourke Street. The tea rooms were named after Lady Hopetoun, the wife of the first GovernorGeneral of Australia John Hope who was said to have introduced Melbourne to the ritual of high tea. Flour and Stone, Sydney

Dreamy cakes, buttery croissants, fluffy sponges and pannacotta lamingtons all made from the highest quality ingredients are hallmarks of Flour and Stone’s inner city kitchen in Sydney’s Woolloomooloo. The once tiny bakery has had a recent expansion to accommodate more customers. Haigh’s, Melbourne

If you haven’t tried a Haigh’s chocolate you are in for a treat! One of the most famous chocolatiers in Australia, Haigh’s is a 108-year family owned and ran chocolate company that orginated in South Australia’s Adeliade. One of their most beautiful stores is in Melbourne’s Block Arcade, the historic facade is perfectly suited to the high quality delicious sweet treats you will find inside. Marshmallow chocolate kokettes, chocolate frogs, and chocolate blocks are some of our favourites. Throughout the year different ranges are released to celebrate all of the important milestones (Easter, Mother’s Day etc.), it is a spot not to be missed for chocolate lovers.

The Block Arcade is one of Melbourne’s most famous shopping arcades. Constructed in the late 1800s it is considered one of the era’s finest shopping arcardes and a popular tourist attraction to this day.
