Volunteer Income Tax Assistance A Family Economic Success Program of EBALD C

Since 2003, EBALDC has successfully run the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to provide free tax preparation services for low to moderate income families. Our goal is to ensure that more working families in the East Bay are claiming tax credits and refunds for which they are eligible, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). The EBALDC VITA program maximizes its impact by being a gateway to other community benefits and services.

With the assistance of hundreds of volunteers from the community, and collaboration with SparkPoint Oakland partner organizations, the IRS and financial supporters, EBALDC’s VITA program has served more than 5,800 low income individuals, families, and entrepreneurs and returned more than $6.9 million in federal and state refunds to the community.
