THE 2012 SPRING SUMMER COLLECTION Summer is nearly upon us and I am excited to share eBay Fashion’s latest seasonal collection: The eBay Fashion Spring Summer 2012 Look Book. eBay Fashion is about individual personal style which is why it was important to us for three real women; Lara Jade, Amal Fashanu and Eleonora Carisi, to show how they are embracing the latest spring summer trends. We’re often told one of the things people most love about eBay is the opportunity to mix the best of the high street with one-off pieces, enabling them to create their own individual style. This collection truly celebrates all things fashion on eBay, mixing and matching the new with vintage. For daytime dressing we love the new trouser trends. Animal print palazzo pants work brilliantly with plain coloured t-shirts, candy coloured jeans are combined with matching colour jumpers, and denim flares look great with lace tops. Both mini and maxi dresses are in this season, and to really hit the button, go for one with a gorgeous floral print. For evenings, a beautifully crafted red lace mini dress or printed lapel frock can’t fail to get you noticed. And when the sun goes down, finish with a chunky white knit jumper or a classic black leather jacket, essential for the unexpected temperature drops of the British summer season. It spans everything from working in my own shop You, to writing for my fashion blog JouJouVilleroy. I am also kept pretty busy designing and distributing my collection What’s Inside You. How long have you been doing this job? I started my own shop, You, six years ago after working as a shop assistant. How did you get to where you are today? Passion and hard work. I love to share my own sense of fun and inspiration with the people I meet – all with an obligatory big smile! What is your go-to outfit for a night out? Shoes are the most important piece for me. A high heel or wedge is key, teamed with a navy long dress, sheer sleeves and gold accessories. And for an important work meeting? A cream silk shirt with a peter pan collar and a high waisted skirt in navy. I always tend to finish the outfit off with a cardigan if I’m feeling girly or a tailored blazer if I want my outfit to have a tougher edge. Where do you go for your style inspiration? I love everything in New York – even down to the clouds reflecting across the skyscrapers. Perfect. What is your latest style obsession? Anything pastel and big, big hats. Whose wardrobe would you love to raid? Anna Dello Russo. Everything sparkles. You can’t help but feel glamorous, like the Queen of England! What do you think can make or break an outfit? Simple lines, few accessories and natural make up is a winning clean and classic look. Don’t be shy about experimenting with bold colours or the latest season’s trends, but don’t throw all your favourite items on at once. What should people look for when putting an outfit together? Wear something you feel comfortable and confident in. If you’re not, people around you can definitely see it. What is your favourite piece from eBay Fashion right now? The beautiful chiffon red dress, I love the ruffles and a peter pan collar. What is your dream get away? New York. What song would you listen to on repeat? All of the Drive soundtrack – I can’t turn it off. What is your guilty pleasure? Sweets.

LARA JADE Name: Lara Jade Age: 22 Job: Fashion Photographer What is a typical day at work for you? A photographer’s work life is different on a day-to-day basis so I’m not sure typical exists for me! I work from home a lot, but I’m often travelling to various cities and exotic locations to shoot or to teach workshops. There’s a lot of prep involved in my job. It’s about 80% prep work and 20% shooting! How long have you been doing this job? 5 years How did you get to where you are today? A little bit of luck, a lot of hard work and a helping hand from social media. What is your go-to outfit for a night out? Classic black dress and Chanel bag, you can’t go wrong with that. And for an important work meeting? An oversize statement blouse and black ankle boots. Where do you go for your style inspiration? As a photographer I’m up to speed with the current trends. When I’m researching for shoots you inadvertently keep yourself updated with what’s out there. However, I also reference back to old styles and I’m an avid shopper, whether it’s one off vintage finds or high street deals! What is your latest style obsession? Cute print tea dresses and oversize sunglasses. Whose wardrobe would you love to raid? The Olsen twins – there’s more than one! What do you think can make or break an outfit? The confidence you have whilst wearing it. What should people look for when putting an outfit together? Most importantly – how much it flatters your figure! There’s no point trying to bundle an outfit together without knowing if it suits you. If you love keeping in with current trends then be sure that you accessorise and add your own personality. What is your favourite eBay find ever? One of my favourite recent finds has to be a black tailored Zara jacket from A/W 2011. I didn’t buy it at the time because of being busy with work, but I then found it on eBay China. I couldn’t let it escape for a second time. What is your favourite piece from eBay Fashion right now? The Tory Burch Robinson satchel bag in black. What is your dream get away? I’d love to visit Hawaii again… I’d also like to go to Alaska and Iceland, something a little different – I love to explore! What song would you listen to on repeat? Lykke Li – Get Some. What is your guilty pleasure? Having the eBay app on my phone which constantly reminds of things that are getting away!

AMAL FASHANU Name: Amal Fashanu Age: 22 Job: TV presenter What is a typical day at work for you? The amazing thing about my job is that nothing can be described as typical. Everyday there is something new happening – from documentary making to a multitude of creative activities which stimulate me every day! How long have you been doing this job? I’ve been working in media since I graduated from Brunel University last year where I studied communications and media. How did you get to where you are today? I was approached to present a BBC documentary which turned out to be a great success. It generated lots of press and positive feedback which has led onto many exciting opportunities like modelling for eBay’s Spring/Summer collection. What is your go-to outfit for a night out? I would refer to it as my classic Amal look: massive black wedges, black skinny jeans, black tank top, and black Chanel bag. And for an important work meeting? I always like to be real to myself and my style, so for a business meeting I would probably still wear black. To make the outfit slightly more formal, I’d wear a black blazer and instead of my skinny jeans and I may wear black trousers with some stilettos. Where do you go for your style inspiration? I’m inspired all day every day, everywhere I go, especially when I travel to different countries. What is your latest style obsession? Floral patterns, especially in jeans which I would then combine with a very plain top. Whose wardrobe would you love to raid? I would raid Elle Macpherson’s wardrobe because I feel she has timeless style. She always looks effortlessly put together. I would define her style as subtle, chic and stylish with a touch of edge. What do you think can make or break an outfit? I don’t believe one thing in particular could make or break an outfit, it’s about how you put it together. I don’t really like it when people over-style themselves. What should people look for when putting an outfit together? I think you should be conscience of your body shape most importantly, your skin tone and even your hair colour. This affects the clothes you wear a lot. What is your favourite eBay find ever? I would have to say my 1965 Chanel classic flap bag! What is your favourite piece from the eBay SS12 collection? There are so many pieces it’s hard to say one. But I guess if I really HAD to I would pick the floral print jeans. So comfortable and fit for many occasions. What is your dream get away? Without a doubt would be Puerto Rico. What song would you listen to on repeat? Beyonce - Dance For You. What is your guilty pleasure? Fries.
