From Your Association President: It is with great pleasure that I invite all of you to our 2021 Minnesota State Simmental Sale! We are very excited about our new sale date and we hope that it caters to more of our breeders and buyers this year’s sale and the coming events. Once again, our state’s breeders have brought you some of the finest Simmental and SimAngus™ genetics out there. We are very thankful for the support of our consignors. It takes a lot of planning and hard work to prepare their animals for the sale and it does not go unnoticed! I hope that all of you will be able to attend our sale in person so you can see the high quality cattle we have to offer for yourselves. If you are not able to attend, make sure to join live on liveauctions.tv. This is a great time to be involved in the cattle industry and the State Sale is a great opportunity to continue to advance your programs genetics. I also welcome everyone to join us for our annual banquet on Saturday, November 20th at 6 PM for social hour and 7 PM for our dinner. Following dinner, we will celebrate the past year with our awards ceremony and then hold our semen auction and junior association’s fundraising auction. You can still donate and proceeds go to a great cause –our Juniors! We also hope that you will join us for the membership meeting at 1 PM in the Haas Livestock Sales facility. It is a great opportunity for all breeders and MSA members to come back together after missing last years. Regards, Tyler Johnson, MSA President
From Your Junior President: Hello everyone! My name is Mollie Allen, and I am currently serving you as your current Minnesota Junior Simmental Association President. I have had many joys as serving as the president this past year. I had the opportunity to represent the Junior Association at the Pipestone Field Day, Junior Nationals in Grand Island, Nebraska, and the Minnesota Beef Expo. I had an awesome time helping put together many fun things for Juniors to come participate and meet other members. I fully enjoyed having water balloon fights, root beer floats, and a wonderful s’more bar. The connections I have had with members over the summer are something I will not forget. Another highlight of mine this past summer was seeing members come together to collect toiletries for the service project at Junior Nationals. My advice to all members: get involved and get to know other members! You may never know who you are going to meet and the knowledge that they have. I am currently a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin River Falls majoring in Agricultural Education. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as your president to help me be a better educator in my future. Lastly, I want to extend a big thank you to our Junior Advisors Marilee and Daryl Peterson and Matt and Adrienne Hilbrands. Things would not be possible without all your hard work and dedication to the Juniors. Your handiwork does not go unnoticed by the Juniors. Thank you for an AMAZING year! Mollie Allen, MJSA President
Dear Members, I have had the honor of serving as your Minnesota Junior Simmental Queen for the past two years. I have had wonderful opportunities to attend as many shows as possible. My favorite shows would have to be field day and Junior Nationals. I love watching little girls look up to you as a mentor. Along with them looking at your crown and sash dreaming about how they want to be queen in the future and represent this wonderful breed of cattle. I cannot wait to watch future girls have the amazing opportunity I had while representing our association. I want to extend a big thank you to our queen coordinators Mic Olson and Amy Nemitz. I also want to extend a big thank you to the current princess Magen Tol. Thank you, Minnesota Junior Simmental Association! Mollie Allen, MJSA Queen

Our oldest son showed her this past summer and did well with her, along with our middle son Maxten who showed her for small animal show for 4-H, Maxten is autistic and Ms. Jewel had all the patience in the world from the ear grabbing, belly rubbing, laying on her back, always in her face. We can honestly say she is show ready for that first time 4-Her. Ms. Jewel is definately what you want in your breeding stock. She’s got the bloodlines of a being a great momma and raising some pretty awesome babies from start to finish. She is a hard one to let go, we still have her momma and are really excited to see what she gives us this upcoming calving season. Be sure to check out this special lady.

These Executive Orders make some tremendous cows and add to that the power and consistency of Wesner’s Missy cow family and this is a breeding piece that will stand the test of time. This is the first set of heifers to sell out of our Everything Nice donor, and unfortunately due to her untimely loss, maybe some of the last as well. Her maternal sisters just sold for $7,000, $4,250 and $4,000 in Sherwood Cattle Co’s online sale. Our herd has been based upon cow families that can perform in the pasture and in the ring. This heifer exudes both sides of that equation and has the family track record to back it up. Her dam was a successful show heifer in the past and her sire promotes performance throughout. The picture doesn’t quite do her justice as she has been a top pick of visitors all year long. Puppy dog tame and ready to do it all for her next owner.

Where do I start with KRRC Firefly. She is an individual when you lay your eyes on her you will say thats a dang nice female. She is very complete in her makeup as she is moderate well balanced female that is good fronted, deep sided and sound female as you can make one and I might add as docile as can be. She has raised 2 very nicely made bulls in her early years of production. Don’t pass up on a female like this they don’t come up for sale very often. She could be carrying your next herdsire.

He is a stylish, clean made bull that still has some ruggedness to him yet is smooth shouldered, deep sided, big footed, sound made individual. It’s never too early to be thinking about buying your next herd bull. Buy with confidence, the sky’s the limit with him, he won’t dissapoint you. Minnesota

I couldn’t be happier on how this female performed in her first year of production. She is a female that from year to year is going to raise consistently good calves. Shes very nice female in terms of how she is built from the ground up and possesses that perfect made udder we all want. She is bred up to our new junior herdsire Five Star Hastings, we are very excited to see what this bull is going to bring to the table. Don’t hesitate on this one, a very good functional type of female.

GLS Elise is a female that comes to you with a very stout family tree out of one of the premier donors X54 in the Grass-Lunning program a couple of years ago that needs no introduction. We all know what she’s done in that program. Here is a daughter that I feel is on her way following in mom’s footsteps. She is a female thats long necked, flat shouldered, long sided, big footed, sound and has the look. We are very excited for her future and to what she can do for her new owners. 9.0 27.1 -.41 .08 -.084 .87 119 71 This red female already in production has a big future ahead of her. I love the build of this brood cow. Big bodied, good looking and a solid udder and foot under her. As a ¾ blood she has the versatility to breed up and make some tremendous purebreds, or keep on with percentage offspring like her calf at side is. However you choose, I think there is big upside. Her heifer calf at side by HILB Fast Lane (Lookout x Stop & Stare) always looks on point. I think this calf would make a tremendous prospect on the end of a halter, but more importantly follow in momma’s footsteps making a great breeding piece thereafter. If it doesn’t hurt a little to sell something, they probably aren’t worth parting with. That saying couldn’t be more true for this pair.

Sweeter Than Ever 631 D has been a staple for our program - her impeccable structure and sheer mass combined with added femininity has provided ample breeding opportunities. This donor goes back to well prolific donors including both HS Sweet Gem from Hilbrands Simmentals, and KenCo Miley Cottontail. In. addition, 631D’s first natural calf went on to be a many time champion for Whitney in 2018-2019 as a heifer and continued her show career in the cow/calf division where she went on to win Champion B/O Pair at Jr. Nationals in 2020. We spend a lot of time evaluating mating’s that we think will generate even better offspring and we believe the combination of 631 D and JBSF Berwick 41 F can do just that! Valued at $109,000 for 1/3 semen interest in 2020 - the mating flexibility that Berwick offers is exceptional, with no Relentless, Broker, Profit, Lock N Load, or Loaded Up in his pedigree. Even better yet, they will be purebreds! Guaranteeing one (1) 60 day pregnancy if implanted by a certified embryologist.
