This year’s offering of bred females is as deep as we have ever offered! They fit our motto well…”performance cattle with a touch of style.” The good news is that it doesn’t stop there! These cattle are also bred for calving ease, maternal traits, fertility, and have a tremendous set of EPDs backing them. The cows selling in this sale are strictly sorted on preg check date and the ability to be a functional cow. Being in business for 50+ years, one tends to acquire quite a lot. With that being said, we have grown our numbers to a point where we need to back them down a few! After a talk with Val, we decided to do a preg date list so every cow projected to calve after March 1 is in this sale. They range from 2nd calvers to some “oldies but goodies” that have stood the test of time. There are cows in this group that have sold offspring in excess of $10K, that could be future donors, and some that have been proven donors in the LHT herd. They are all bred to top AI sires that are up and coming legends of the breed. Please buy with confidence as these cows can flat out get it done and help you find your next donor or top end cow to improve our herds.
We’ve never been so optimistic and excited about the cattle business!! These are the times we strive for and want to take advantage of. I know it has been tough to get to this point with feed costs maxed out and lots of areas stricken by drought, but we are finally getting rewarded for being beef producers. With that being said, it’s time to keep improving your cow herds with better genetics. This is where we come in to assist you with what we feel are super solid genetics that will help you improve your herd and the value of your calf crops in the future.
As our operation continues to evolve, we continue to breed cattle to keep up with the times. Our goal is to make them very easy fleshing and moderately framed, but not too small. We aim to accelerate that growth curve and peak it faster and longer to the point that when these cattle have reached 14-15 months of age, their growth curve flattens and the ones being harvested do so at optimum time and weight. The female counterparts still mature to be moderate, functional cattle. We feel our cattle do this as well as any.
Today’s world is busy, and everyone needs efficiency, as time is money. Our current cow herd is bred to calve easy, have solid udders, and breed back easily. It is important to us to produce low input, high efficiency cattle. Why? Because it is not just a choice, it’s the only way to survive in today’s world!
