11th Annual Rockin H Simmental Production Sale 2024
As we sit here tonight writing this year’s opening letter, we reflect on the past year. The mild winter we had, to the lush green pastures and fields we had throughout last summer. After receiving measurable amounts of rain that led to a nice dry, bountiful harvest which our family is so thankful for, leading us back full circle to another year and another production sale.
The cattle we offer for your appraisal, we feel are of high quality and are bred to be profitable for our customers. The bulls have been tested for homozygous black and polled traits and have been performance evaluated, along with carcass scanning. Genetically we feel are top notch. The “Select 7” open heifers are handpicked right off the top of 60 head of replacement heifer pen. We are once again offering bred heifers and young bred cows that carry time tested genetics, and we are confident they will work successfully in your herd for many years. This group is bred from the end of March to the first part of May.
We will keep and feed the bulls free of charge until April 15th, if your unable to take your bull right away. We will be delivering bulls free of charge to the surrounding states and we can assist you in other trucking arrangements as well if needed. The sale will be on DVAuction again if you’re unable to attend in person for bidding and viewing of the cattle sale day.
Our passion is raising Simmental cattle and producing top quality genetics for our customers. The cattle can be viewed any time prior to sale day. We would be happy to help with any questions you may have as we love to talk cattle and would enjoy hearing from you.

The sale this year consists of a very power-packed offering in the bull division. Matt’s continued dedication and commitment to produce only the top performance genetics that also excels in the disposition department like Lot # 1. A true stud and he is not taking a back seat to his $95,000 brother Rockin H Captivate who is doing a superior job in the Lazy C Diamond and Bichler Simmental operations. It will be worth the trip to Canby to see All American in person. This year’s ladies are as impressive as the boys. They will walk and talk with the best of them. The group of 9 heifers is owned by our good neighbors, the Goplens. We sold them a group of open heifers last fall, and they decided they wanted to AI the heifers and put up a few back up for sale. We offered to put them back onto our production sale. Most of the heifers are sired by some of the breeds top bulls and are bred to some of the breeds top calving ease sires today. We feel this group of heifers will make a great cows that will be profitable. We look forward to doing more business with them in the future.

Olson Memorial Scholarship

We are selling this Arrowquip Chute (like New) to add to Kyle’s memorial.
Few are lucky enough to have been born with their vocation predestined. Kyle was one such man. Born a farmer, his hobbies and activities tied him ever closer to the land his family had farmed for nearly 40 years. In high school, Kyle was a member of the Spruce Hill Rangers 4-H Club raising and showing turkeys, pigs, and cattle at the Douglas County Fair and the Minnesota State Fair and was a Parkers Prairie FFA Chapter member whose dedication to farming would earn him State Degree, Star Chapter Farmer, and a Star Chapter Placement honors. Kyle attended Parkers Prairie High School and was a graduate of Ridgewater Community College in Willmar.
After graduating college, Kyle returned to the family farm in Parkers Prairie where he continued his passion of farming by raising turkeys, growing various crops, and started his own cattle herd, many of which came from his friend, Matt Hoffman.
At too young of an age, his father retired from farming to join the Lord and Kyle, at 23 years old, carried on the Olson farming. We have been blessed to have Kyle in our lives and as a great friend. Last spring we lost him to a farm accident but Heaven gained a great one. In his memory, this scholarship was established. Each year two students from Parkers Prairie High school will be selected to receive $500 to be used towards further education in an agricultural related field.
APPLICANTS WILL BE CHOSEN BASED UPON THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
• Enrolled in an agricultural related program at either a 2 or 4 year program
• Involvement in 4-H and/or FFA
• A passion for farming
