In 1919, 16-year-old Heinrich Kalkhoff began trading bicycle parts at his family home in Cloppenburg. A year later, he expanded to selling used bikes. In 1923, he started producing his own bike frames – and a new bicycle manufacturer was born.

In 1927, the first complete bike rolled off the production line. Nine years later, Kalkhoff was already operating on a global scale, having manufactured some 250,000 bikes with its 40 or so employees. Given the political situation, Kalkhoff was obliged to manufacture armaments during the war.

For a while after the war, Kalkhoff produced only industrial goods having nothing to do with bikes. Bicycle production only took centre stage once more in 1950, when production hit 5,000 frames per day. Thanks to booming demand, in 1970 an additional plant and a new dispatch warehouse were opened in Cloppenburg. Two years later, the five millionth bike left K alkhoff’s factories.

In 1988, with the founding of Derby Cycle Werke, Kalkhoff became part of the inter national Derby Group, and the introduction of e-bikes in 2007 inaugurated the most successful chapter in recent Kalkhoff history. The launch of the Impulse drive system and the company’s successful initial public offering in 2011 were further milestones.

With the brand relaunch in 2015, Kalkhoff cemented its position as one of Europe’s leading e-bike suppliers. Two years after the introduction of the Kalkhoff Integrale – the first e-bike with a mid-mounted drive to also have a fully integrated battery – Kalkhoff ushered in its next stage of integration, with new product families in all segments.

MOBILITY The bike industry has never experienced anything like the radical changes it has seen in recent years, and this is a trend that is set to continue for some time. A simple means of transport has become a trendy lifestyle statement. We see it as our duty to develop and foster a comprehensive understanding of mobility, and that goes beyond just a bike or an e-bike.

Experience starts with E – just like Endeavour and Entice. These two new sporty product ranges are continuing the development of the successful integration concept seen in the Kalkhoff Integrale: to the uncluttered cockpit and fully-integrated batteries, they add the new Kalkhoff design language and – in the case of the Endeavour Trekking e-bike – a wide range of options: three equipment packages, three frame designs, three drive options and up to three colours per model are available. The Entice brings a new all-road product to the Trekking range: when paved paths end, the new cross e-bikes are truly in their element.

BETTER ADAPTED THAN EVER BEFORE In technical terms, the Integrale product range already marks the pinnacle of achievement, and consequently our focus for 2018 lies on fashionable model updates: with four colour combinations now available for each standard model, it is easier than ever to find “your” Kalkhoff Integrale. Another smart feature is the compact monitor that can take on the role of route finder, thanks to the Bluetooth module, USB socket and free Navi app. The bike can be adapted like never before thanks to the four standard models available in four different colour combinations. The intuitive operation, Bluetooth and USB charging socket of the compact monitor mean that it continues to impress. So it’s fair to say that integration has really been successful here.
