For the first time, brands will now be able to understand users’ emotional experience towards social video advertising. LONDON—January 31st, 2013—Ebuzzing Social, the global experts in social video advertising, today announced that it has partnered with Affectiva, who have roots in MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), to scientifically measure users’ emotions as they view video ads during the Ebuzzing user experience. The technology, called Affdex, uses computer vision algorithms to detect facial expressions and head gestures obtained from webcams or mobile cameras, from which it assess the emotional experience of the user, such as like, dislike, attention and engagement. When activated, this proprietary technology serves up a user prompt, directing the user to an external URL that will gather face video while the ad is running. Once the user has consented, the video will run whilst Affdex analyses the user’s emotions to the content. As an added benefit, Affdex is seamlessly embedded within the Ebuzzing Social player, so viewers can experience this technology over the Internet, rather than having to go to a research lab. Ebuzzing also combines campaign KPI’s such as awareness, advocacy, interactions, shares, completion rates and click-
