WINTER YOUNG ADULT RETREAT
Shaping A Warrior!
UPDATE BY JASON BATTIST“I love how many people are here!”
This is a quote from one of our Young Adult friends participating in our Winter Retreat this month.
This past month, we had our Young Adult Retreat in Big Lake, Alaska. This retreat had over 90 participants and staff. We were excited to welcome Seth and Sarah Stevens from Arkansas, who served as our Speaker and Worship Leader. They both originate from the Navajo Nation. Our young adults love to gather and reunite their passion for fellowship, worship, and growth in their relationship with Jesus. Our theme was “Shaping a Warrior!” Using Jeremiah 9:23-24, we strived to shape us into more understanding of God to reach out to others about the love of Jesus Christ. God stirred in the hearts of many of our young adults in our worship sessions and small group time. An AEC student mentioned that God was convincing him to
make sure he works to be more with God and not with his phone all the time. He was encouraged to cut the distractions and be more with God!
Young adults were excited to get a taste of home by riding snow machines, eating fry bread, eating akutaq, and participating in community games we call YARO. We also had fun shooting skeet and ice fishing.
Thank you so much for your prayers and support for the Young Adults in our state. We appreciate your love for us and the next generation of leadership in our Native communities. It’s exciting to see the growth in our young adults. It’s also stirring to the partnership with you for the youth and young adults in Alaska!
