• The University of Bridgeport women’s gymnastics team has won the last five USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships. • UB men’s swimming team took eighth place at the 2013 NCAA Division II National Championship Meet. • The Bridgeport women’s volleyball team won the school’s first-ever NCAA Division II East Regional Title in the fall of 2011 and has now made four straight appearances in the regional final. • The UB men’s soccer team has made 11 consecutive conference tournament appearances.

About Dowling

Founded in 1955 as part of Adelphi University’s Suffolk Campus, the college purchased the former W.K. Vanderbilt estate in Oakdale in 1962. In 1968 the college was renamed after its chief benefactor, Robert Dowling, a noted city planner and aviator. Situated on the banks of the Connetquot River on a former Vanderbilt estate, Dowling’s Rudolph Campus in Oakdale is among the nation’s most beautiful. The 105-acre Brookhaven Center is located on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley and features high-tech learning facilities for a broad range of undergraduate and graduate courses. Located within walking distance to the Long Island Rail Road and featuring free parking and shuttle bus service, Dowling is easily accessible from both Suffolk and Nassau counties, as well as the five boroughs of New York City.

• Milestones: Senior Marija Jovanovic earned her 2,00th career assist on Nov. 7 against Bridgeport. She is the fifth Bear to reach the milestone. Senior Shelby Cable became the 10th Bear to amass 1,000 career digs and the fourth Bear to have both 1,000 career kills and digs. She accomplished the milestone on Sept. 26 at American International. • In the Record Books: Senior Kelly Brown has climbed her way up the career record books for blocking. She ranks second all-time in total (410) and block assists (290) and seventh in solo blocks. • Academic Honors: Jovanovic earned her first CoSIDA Academic All-District honor. Her accomplishments advance her to the All-America ballot.
