Originating from Franklin, Tennessee, Emma Fisk is a graduate of the CIDA accredited interior design program at Middle Tennessee State University. She has completed one successful internship in Nashville, TN and is currently working at another focusing in healthcare with centers around the South. During her senior year, she became the event coordinator of the university’s ASID/IIDA student chapter and worked with in-field professionals to coordinate multiple events such as Lunch and Learns, a digital conference, an on-campus product show, field trips, and the end-of-year senior showcase. Passionate about historical presedent, Emma was incredibly grateful for the opportunity to study abroad in Prague where she studied historical art, architecture, and interior design. She expanded her international studies to Italy, Hungary, and Slovokia.

1. ROAM HOTEL Movement - Renewal - Harmony - Community The Roam Hotel located in the Historic Bottoms of Murfreesboro, Tennessee offers a unique getaway expereince for all guests that inspire relaxation as well as self-improvement.. Guests are invited to experience a new self-improvement way of vacationing by indulging in all that the hotel and the greater Murfreesboro community have to offer! Located adjacent to Murfreesboro’s own Murphy Springs, Springs, Roam offers exclusive access to the natural waters and multiple activities and spaces inspired to evoke a luxurious and peaceful stay away from home. Spearheaded by themes of sustainability sustainability,, biophilic design, design, and the WELL building standards, standards, the many spaces of Roam are guarunteed to provoke wellness and a healthy lifestyle. Themes and motifs of movement are central in the design of all Roam’s spaces to entice guests to explore of their own volition and be rewarded through scences of natural beauty and exciting experiences. As they say, “When in Roam...”


When guests first arrive through the sliding doors, they are greeted with a combination of colors, finishes, and textures found throughout the project. The modular lobby seating area offers an array of options that can be adjusted if needed. The technology bar offers a comfortable space to feel connected both online and in the space. Behind the technology bar is the Murphy Boutique, named after the springs guests are encouraged to visit during their stay. Murphy Boutique offers an array of necessities as well as souveniers to help make their stay at Roam memorable. Next, located in the south-west corner of the first floor is Roam’s own Robin’s Egg Restaurant and Bar. Each menu item is inspired using locally grown ingredients, including herbs cultivated in the rooftop garden. Finally, on their way to Murhpy Springs, guests are invited meet up at the seating area next to the complementary drink station, where new infused beverages are served daily.

Guests are invited to choose from three room types during their stay at Roam; The suite, king, or queen. The most defining factors of these spaces are the square footage and corresponding bed size. This is to provide all guests with the same aesthetics of biophilic design no matter where they travel from or the reason for their journey. The aesthetic of Roam can be enjoyed to the same extent regardless of room number.

Each space is furnished with a king or queen sized bed, a desk, lounge area, full-lengeth wardrobe, and luxurious bathroom with a walk-in waterfall shower. A coffee station is also provided with a complementary Keurig allowing guests to enjoy a warm drink of their choice and the beautiful natural scenery from the comfort of their room.

The Rooftop Bar and Lounge is open every evening for appetizers and drinks with new performances and shows every night from local artists and bands. Guests are welcome to enjoy the entertainment, drinks, food, and soothing atmosphere of the Springs that can be heard below. Biophilic elements can even be found on the rooftop! The herb garden which supplies the rooftop and Robin’s Egg kitchens is also utilized as a visual divider between the dining area and serving station. A large pergola covers the dining area and stage, while leaving the bar-height tables free to enjoy the open night sky. The dark flooring emphisizes the exciting furnishings and finishes. Guests may make reservations through the front desk and seat themselves.




2. PARLOUR TEA ROOM Variety - Biophilic - Comfort - Accomidating The Parlour Tea Room is a Tea Tasting Shop for guests of all ages to enjoy a a cup of tea specifically to their unique tastes. In this 4,669 sqft space located in the Ponce City Market in Atlanta, GA, Parlour is a comfortable and welcoming space for every personality.


‘Variety’,, ‘Biophilic’ ‘Variety’ ‘Biophilic’,, ‘Comfort’ ‘Comfort’,, and ‘Individual’ represent Parlour’s core values that steer their business model. What separates Parlour from the rest is its priority of ensuring the guest’s experience. The space incorporates a variety of options that accomodate to every guest whether it’s what’s on the menu, or deciding where to sit. Motifs of nature are widespread throughout the design which ingrave a sense of connectivity to the larger community and environment. The comfort and expectation of the guest is highly regarded in the design of this space and ensures that guests will not only enjoy their time spent at Parlour, but will want to regain that sense of relaxation and peace again in the future. The individual is often an oversight in the design of a commerical space due to drastically differing opinions, however, because of the variety Parlour offers, every individual is accounted for.

Guests are invited to enjoy one of two interior spaces, a casual dining area or a specialty dining area, each of which accompanied with unique acoustical applications. The difference in these spaces lies in the type of experience the guest is looking for. The casual dining space utilizes a circular cloud with relaxed ceiling tile of a slightly lower NRC.

The specialty dining space uses a geometrically shaped cloud with a ceiling tile of a higher NRC along with additional wall art to provide even more sound absorbtion. These specifications ensure that multiple tasks and expectations can be achieved in the same space while ensuring the guests’ comfortable atmoshpere.

Every seating option has its own unique personality displayed through the use of color, texture, volume and shape, and density. The lightness of the wood tones brighten the space to give it a sense of openness and to further support the biophilic design intention accompanied with dark grays and blacks to center the modern design. Upholsered furnishings are prepared for longer stays while nonupholstered chairs are intended for quicker turnaround.



3. NEW YORK CITY DOWNTOWN LOFT Modern - Tranquility - Relationships The 2018 renovation of the 1,632 square foot apartment in a newly renovated commercial building in New York City will provide Payton Zimmerman with a functional and aesthetically beautiful part-time home. The apartment utilizes the Modernist style with accents of art and furniture pieces from the Bauhaus and Scandinavian Modern styles of the 1930s and 1950s. The balance of public and private spaces allows for any event including house parties and piano performances. The large windows on the East and West walls allow maximum access to natural light during all times of the day. Multiple gathering spaces in the kitchen, living area, and dining area offer felxible options to relax or entertain. The open floor plan allows for felxibility within dining and entertainment areas for future changes.

The NYC Loft’s central cencept lies in its functionality as a comfortable home away from home, for the client, however, the space also needed to be able to host small receptions and parties when the client releases new music. This necessity led to the configuration shown above. By creating multiple gathering spaces, guests are able to naturally connect within grouped sections within the public areas of the apartment.

On the main level, the kitchen, entertainment a rea, and dining table are great places for people to relax and chat amongst themselves while also sustaining the sense of connectivity. Upstairs in the loft, lounge seating surrounds the railing allowing guests to enjoy the changed of scenery but also know that they are still connected to the other spaces below.

BAKER ACCOUNTING OFFICE Sophistication - Honesty - Precision Inspired by the lightness and natural aesthetics of the Scandinavian Modern and International styles of the early 20th century, the Baker Accounting Office creates an inviting atmosphere through the use of Elements and Principles including long thin lines, circles, and natural patterns. The visual effect of natural materials increases productivity and enthusiasm by creating a connection to the world outside the office through Biophilic Design. Design. The space plan encourages occupants to be Active within the layout and to explore the space. The open work area also encourages flexibility to accomodate for changes in the future. Executive offices offer more privacy from the open work space members as well as the frosted glass wall separating themselves from the open work area provides theoption for privacy as well.
