About the Davis-Stirling Act

The Davis-Stirling Act is the portion of the California Civil Code that dictates how common interest developments (CIDs) must govern themselves. In 2012, the State Legislature adopted AB 805, which completely reconfigured the Act. It was amended again in 2013 to correct minor errors and became effective in 2014. This updated edition of the 2023 Echo Statute Book presents the most current version of the Davis-Stirling Act.
