PURPOSE STATEMENT:

In the heart of Alexandria, you will find First Lutheran Church . For over 137 years, First Lutheran has been a faithful presence in Alexandria . Besides being a center for worship and ministry, it has long served as a place where numerous groups from the community come together and meet . First Lutheran is a welcoming place . The people who gather and make this their church home are everyday people, young and old alike, who find joy and purpose in being the church together . Worship is at the center of who we are . We gather at least four times to worship on a weekend . You’ll find a variety of approaches to the worship services . Our prayer is that worship would inspire, encourage and enable us to know Jesus better and to reflect his love in our lives . In the summer we add a service and move two of our services outdoors . First Lutheran is invested in its ministry to children and youth . Our music program is dynamic and has a long and rich tradition .

We are a growing congregation that is willing to try new things and excited to move ahead .
