Tyler Wanous paced the Men’s Regular Division during qualifying on Sunday as the soonto-be junior at Eastview shot a 4-under par 68 to take the top seed among the 16 who qualified for the division’s 1st flight.

Wanous had just one slip up all round when he bogeyed the par-4 ninth hole. He was dialed in around that with birdies on Nos. 1, 4, 5, 12 and 13.

His bogey-free back nine helped him hold off Zach Bloedorn, who finished second during qualifying at 2-under par. Bloedorn’s round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 sixth hole. The cut for the 1st flight was a 77.

Ian Kinney, Brian Salzer and last year’s division-champion Nicholas Adams all shot that to round out the field. Adams is the second seed in the first flight by virtue of winning last year’s championship.

Mac Cranmer was the third and final player to finish under par as he shot a 71 to take the fourth seed into the match-play portion of the tournament. Cranmer had birdies on Nos. 6, 7, 12 and 15.

Kyle Story, Cameron Meyer and Riley Larson were all close behind after shooting a 1-over par 73. Story had a three-hole flurry on the back with birdies on 11, 12 and 13. He parred out from there on the back.

Meyer had birdies on holes 3, 6, 14 and 15, while Larson had birdies on Nos. 4 and 16. Larson was steady throughout his round with pars on 14 holes.

Jake Erickson (75), Daniel Schilling (75), Stephen Davidson (76), Drew Swedberg (76), Mason Kulics (76), Michael Herzog (76) and Brandon Bistodeau (76) all shot well enough to qualify for the 1st flight, as well.

This whole group will now look ahead to match play Wednesday afternoon when they tee off from the 10th box starting at 12:42.
