FOREWORD

“A Second Life Thanksgiving Project” is a collaborative publication we first did two years ago, and we brought it back again this year. If there is one thing the world needs more of, it is kindness and what better way to express it than to those we are most thankful for. For this project, residents from across the grid submitted a short note for someone and shared why they are thankful for them.

Sylvia came to me out of the blue one day, and it was like stepping into sunshine and light. She’s been a genuine friend to me, and a person I didn’t know that I even needed to begin with. In many ways I was lost, in both worlds and she’s been an anchor. I know we all have different experiences with people, but wow mine has just been pure happiness and amazement. Thank you for being you, thank you for being real and true. In so many ways, I’d be lost if you didn’t exist in my world now.

Twizzy, waking up to you everyday has been the single best thing I have experienced in my entire sl. I wish I could of found you soon and loved you longer but I am grateful for every moment you give me. Our journey has been short but I do hope it lasts always. You have given me the type of support

Your support over the years has always been so absolute and this year has been no different. I cannot thank you enough or explain how having you there going “How can I help?” and just being my sounding board has helped me through so much. You have been there for me for nearly 20 years and I couldn’t have asked for a better God Sent Sister than you! I love you and I don’t say it enough, but thank you for everything you do for me.

Jason has been one of the most important parts of my SL for over 2 years. In this time it’s been a privilege to love him and it’s been incredibly amazing to be loved by him. He is so loving & caring, having seen me through some of the lowest points in my RL and whilst not being able to be there physically for me - the emotional support and care that he gives to me relentlessly, day in, day out, is something i will always be so truly grateful and thankful for.

Fluffeh has been one of my very best friends for 10 years now. Our days be gin in our Discord server with morning greetings and coffee before work and it’s a place where we can girly gossip, cry, scream and laugh with one another throughout the day, every day. There is not a day that passes where we do not check in with one another and share stories of our SL, our RL and in fluffeh’s case, spams me with TikTok videos of randomness. She’s a friend beyond SL and I love her very much.

Nik is already a long time friend and over the years he has become the best friend I could ever wish. He always listens when I worry about anything or anyone but most of all we like to share recipes and talk about food. He is Italian and I learn a lot about italian habbits. We do not need to talk every time we are online but the fact that we can is enough to know. Yes, we both have friends and good friends but he has a special place in my heart.

I’m beyond grateful for Dev and the friendship we have. It’s everything that imho friendship should be based upon - respect, loyalty, trust, honesty and selflessness. It matters not what this woman is going through or has going on with herself, she will always make time to check in with me and make sure i’m ok. All of this and to think that we both started out thinking that each of us really didn’t like the other, only to discover that we’re so similar it’s uncanny (and sad for Jason because he gets away with nothing lol)

15 hours and 8000 miles apart but brothers at heart. I am thankful this year for my dood Pengu Wes for constantly being there for me day and night. He’s always there for me - talking about our lives, our tribulations and our triumphs. Jokes and serious conversations know no boundaries and no judgements. He’s a pillar of comfort and strength for me through these two tough years.

Even though he’s my younger brother, he balances my stress-crazyoverthinking head with his goofy calm personality. A true diamond that I found.

There are so many things I can tell the world about you. But I am limited to just a hundred words or so, thanks to the “man”. Nevertheless, you embody that purest thing to me, love. I think in the decade or so I’ve known my sister, Debi, we both have been through the worst times of our lives. It’s amazing to have someone to always look to as an example of how to live. Even on her worst days, she finds the strength to care about others. I’m thankful that fate, serendipity, luck or what ever brought us together. Opposites in most ways, but like magnets we work. Love her to the moon and back. She’s my person.

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to our relationship, both personally and professionally. We work differently than most pairings do, but we work so well together. A note to you Sammy. One of my favourite people, not only in sl, but in general. I feel like we met each other when we were both at a weird time in life and I have never been able to lean on someone as much as I have in our friendship. It is always positive, peaceful and energising being around you. You are super talented, I am always proud of you and you always return that energy. Typically, I am loathe to write something so broad, especially when words of appreciation for each of you are quite literally dancing on the tip of my tongue.
