schools, as well as its school for adults, the CECCE is the largest Canadian network of French-language schools outside Quebec.

MISSION OF THE SCHOOLS Engage all students in learning, pursuing their dreams, and building a better world.

STAFF CREDO We believe that every student can succeed if we give them the time and support they need.

GUARANTEE provided to every parent who puts their child in the CECCE’s care We are determined to do what must be done to provide each and every student with the support and encouragement they need to succeed. •

Support, an everyday experience.

Encouragement, so that every talent and aptitude is fulfilled. The CECCE guarantees, in all its operations, an environment imbued with Catholic values and a sense of belonging to the Francophone community.

The CECCE’s French Catholic schools are at the heart of the communities of Ottawa, Carleton Place, Pembroke, Merrickville, Brockville, Kingston and Trenton.

SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION Transportation is provided, at both the elementary and secondary levels, by a network of school buses overseen by the Consortium de transport scolaire d’Ottawa.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION FRENCH, NATURALLY; ENGLISH, OF COURSE! At the Conseil des écoles catholiques du CentreEst, classes and school life take place entirely in French. There are many activities organized throughout the year that allow students to fully live their culture. English instruction begins in Grade 4 and continues through Grade 12. Secondary school students take English classes that are similar in every way to the classes offered in English-language schools.

The majority of students in the CECCE’s French-language Catholic schools become fluent in English without sacrificing their French. This lasting bilingualism gives them access to any postsecondary program, regardless of language, and allows them to enter the workforce with fluency in both of Canada’s official languages. Moreover, students can receive an internationally recognized certificate of bilingualism upon graduating from secondary school.

Daycares for children in most of our schools.

Free nursery school program for three-year-olds, Petits pas à trois, in some schools. Visit www.ecolecatholique.ca/pp3 for more information.

Preparation for starting full-time kindergarten with the Je D’école summer program. Visit www.ecolecatholique.ca/ jedecole for more information.

JUNIOR AND SENIOR KINDERGARTEN The Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est offers full-time junior and senior kindergarten for children who will turn 4 or 5 years old by December 31st of the current school year. A play-based, before-and-after-school child care service is available, for a fee, to parents who choose the extended school day program. Visit www.ecolecatholique.ca/ journeeprolongee for details.

SECONDARY SCHOOL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Our elementary schools offer programs from junior kindergarten through Grade 6 (or Grade 8, in certain schools). On the provincial standardized tests administered every year to Grade 3 and 6 students, our students achieve the best results in the province, which testifies to the quality and dedication of our staff. For more information on standardized testing, visit www.ecolecatholique.ca/oqre. In Ottawa, the CECCE offers parents the opportunity to enrol their children in one of three personalized instruction schools, which use a method based on Montessori principles. For more information on personalized instruction, visit www.ecolecatholique.ca/ enseignementperso.

The 10 secondary schools in the CECCE are for students from Grades 7 to 12, and offer a variety of specialized programs that allow the students to discover and live their passion. The CECCE’s secondary schools reflect the cultural diversity of the region, and welcome students regardless of their religion. Some schools even welcome students from abroad through the CECCE’s International Student Program. The graduation rate of students in the CECCE’s secondary schools is 95%, which greatly exceeds the 85% target set by the province of Ontario.

CONTINUING EDUCATION and International Languages Program Éducation permanente offers remedial classes during the summer, in-class and online courses for adults, and an international languages program for children. For more information on the course offerings at Éducation permanente, visit www.educationpermanente.ca.

SYNERGY: SCHOOL + FAMILY + COMMUNITY There are many ways to contribute to the CECCE’s educational mission: A child’s parents are his or her first educators. Their commitment to academic success is vital. The CECCE offers many resources and workshops in order to support parents. Moreover, the CECCE provides opportunities to get involved in the school and school board, especially through the school councils and Parent Involvement Committee. Schools are always looking for volunteers to enrich the students’ educational experiences. The CECCE works in partnership with the Ottawa Network for Education (ONFE), which recruits and supports volunteers who donate their time to, for example, read with students. For more information, visit www.onfe-rope.ca.

In municipal elections, taxpayers elect school board trustees, whose job is to set the desired results for the CECCE and make sure the school board reaches them. School board trustees represent CECCE taxpayers. Looking for a space in your community? The CECCE makes its school facilities available for a reasonable fee, thereby helping Ontarians reach their goals, such as better health, community strength, and student success. Visit www.ecolecatholique.ca/ utilisationcommunautaire.
