ANNOUNCEMENTS: • The first Senate Meeting will be on Thursday, September 3. GENERAL BUSINESS: • There was discussion of amending the By-Laws in regards to issues with the Election Review Process. o Speaker Schultz explained the problems with the current system. o Attorney General Tank covered the current Election Review Process. o The committee discussed several options in correcting the current election process: Eliminating the Deputy Election Commissioner position. Selecting the Elections Commissioner at an earlier date. Abolishing the Elections Review Committee and have direct appeals to Student Tribunal. Making other changes with the group that appoints the elections commissioner. o Work on the By-Laws and Statutes will continue. • Tyler Sharp was elected as Vice Chair of the Senate Operations Committee. • Speaker Schultz discussed the idea of bringing a Consent Agenda before the committee. • Proofread legislation.
LEGISLATION PASSED OUT OF COMMITTEE: • Speaker Schultz presented a Resolution of Appointment concerning three new Graduate Student Senators. The Committee review the legislation and processes used by the Graduate Council for the appointment of three new Graduate Student Senators. Motion was made and seconded to recommend favorably the appointments and co-author the Resolution. Motion carried by a vote of 5-0-0. • Speaker Schultz presented a Resolution of Appointment concerning two students being appointed to Recreation Services Council. The Committee reviewed the appointments and qualifications. Motion was made and seconded to recommend favorably the appointments and co-author the Resolution. Motion carried by a vote of 5-0-0.
