TASK FORCE UPDATES

Public Policy Task Force

The 87th Texas Legislative Session concluded on May 31st. The Economic Alliance was successful on several of its’ priority issues during the session, including:

Prioritizing the TXDoT I-10 San Jacinto River bridge project - Support letters and conversations from Senator Carol Alvarado and Representative Briscoe Cain

Authorization of the Gulf Coast Protection District that will provide Texas with the agency necessary to oversee the O&M costs on the Ike Dike

HB 2106 passage, which Representative Perez filed in Financial Crimes and addresses the state’s ability to prevent card skimmers from utilizing gas stations

SB 900, filed by Senator Alvarado, provides improved safety regulations on above ground storage tanks utilized by the oil and gas and petrochemical industries

On June 22nd, the Economic Alliance hosted a Board meeting at the San Jacinto Monument. In conjunction with the meeting, the EA hosted the Legislative Wrap Up that included eight of the regions state elected officials, including

Texas Chemical Council President Hector Rivero moderated the discussion, and East Harris County Manufacturers Association jointly hosted the discussion.

AMANDA (MANDY) BAUCUM Marketing & Communications Director

Amanda Baucum joined Economic Alliance as Marketing and

Communications Director in late June 2021. In her role she will be the dedicated marketing and communications guru for in-house and external facing publications, social media, website, and everything in-between.

Mandy spent the majority of her career in the O&G industry at Weatherford International, mostly in the Wireline division. She moved on to the transportation industry where she held the position of Marketing Manager at Kenco.

The Covid pandemic changed her path and now she’s part of our team. She is excited to dig in deep, learn the industry and help in every way possible to create a stronger, safer and more profitable economy, with vast education elevation.
