Standard and Custom Filter Sets
AquaSmart Ceramic Filter Sets • •
Designed to your needs, our systems are comprised of one, two & three filters that can be fitted under the kitchen sink, These compact units will safeguard against a wide range of Bacteria, Giardia and Cryptosporidium cysts, worms, as well as an impressive range of Agricultural Chemicals, Carcinogens, Chlorine and Heavy Metals.
•
Optional 25 to 1 micron sediment filter for dirty or rusty water and or carbon for cleaner water subject to smell/taste, chlorine, chemicals.
•
Whole house systems are easily and economically effective, using no electricity or replacement parts. Installation takes very little time. Less costly than Reverse Osmosis, U.V. Light and distillation systems.
Specifications
The AquaSmart Ultracarb is popular as it: •
Filters to W.H.O. Standards, (greater than 99.999% bacteria and cysts removal).
•
The only ceramic cartridge world-wide to fully comply withISO9002 and also NSF#42 (chlorine, taste & odour) and NSF#53 Class 1 (health effects).
•
The same ceramic filter specifications are used around the world by British and American Embassies and organisations such as SCF,UNICEF, OXFAM and Red Cross.
•
Safeguards from Bacteria, Cysts, Worms, Chlorine and a wide range of other chemical contaminants, and heavy metals.
•
Chlorine reduction 99.9% where the carbon block filter is required.
•
The incorporated silver element guarantees bacteria will not breed and multiply in the cartridge, (often the case with just a carbon cartridge alone).
Typical System Options There are three types of filter system installations that can be carried out for customers; Whole House Systems This system type filters ALL the water passing into the house, which will then be distributed throughout the home and used everywhere. These types of systems sometimes also treats the water used for irrigation, but this is not necessary and could be avoided for lower filter maintenance costs. In many cases where the home is new, we suggest that the irrigation and pool refilling water bypass the filter system AFTER the sediment filter. Municipal Water Systems Whole house systems that are connected to municipal water do need a sediment filter as municipal water is relatively clean, but our experience with water is presenting sediment in quanity. In these cases we use a Sediment filter, then a ceramic filter set and finally a carbon filter set, sized to the total flow requirement of the home of commercial client’s expectations. It is important that these expectations are formally agreed upon. Well Water or Delivered Water Systems Whole house systems that are supplied from well sources, or water that is delivered from government wells require special consideration, as both are a source of considerable sediment and inherently an increased bacteria count. In these cases, cisterns are also a source of sediment and contamination, hence the need for concern of design and flow rates available from pumping systems as well as system pressure drops. Flow rates for whole house systems vary from 40 litres per minute to 120 litres per minute and are priced to the clients requirement.
Non Whole House Filter Systems Under the Sink Filter Guidelines

•
This type of system typically serves kitchen sinks, side sprays, refrigerator ice machines and water coolers. Under the sink filter systems generally require flow rates of less than 2 gallons per minutes unless requested. This figure is based on typical aerator flow rates at 40 psi pressure. Connections to refrigerator lines is easily done where plumbing exists to do so, and any future requirements are easily made where these issues are known. Where water sources are from wells or delivered water, a sediment filter should be installed at the pumping station, which provide whole house filtered water. Where the client is on a budget, a sediment filter should be made part of the under-the-sink installation. Where there is suspect of polluted water lines, there are concerns for bacteria existing throughout the system, a single cartridge can be used (Sterasyl). Where older copper pipes are used, there is a need for possible lead control and the Ultracarb provide this protection as it has a resin ion core to remove lead and other heavy metals. However, depending on water use rates, this feature has a limited life term in terms of litres of water treatable. Where the cartridge is subject to larger amounts of water flow, a TWO cartridge filter system can be installed, being a sterasyl and a second carbon filter block which inherently has a great capacity to process larger volumes of water.
