Planning for growth Eco Village Voice has a bold and ambitious production agenda. Thankfully, Michael Ney, digital media producer, filmmaker, web developer, photographer and video/podcast/webinar creator, is also a publisher, magazine editor and graphic designer with over 4 decades combined experience. The various items of overlapping production to be released over each quarter includes: > 1 magazine 52 pages (combining global and local) > 1 podcast (possibly another also - aiming at monthly) > 1 webinar (possibly another also - aiming at monthly) > 1 feature video interview (plus a few shorter ones) > 3 monthly newsletters per quarter
The various platforms and content will be cross-promoted in order for audiences on a single platform, ie YouTube, are led to explore different aspects and publishings. Of course, we hope anyone interested will become a paid member to have a community experience where all items are available.
The Patreon campaign (opening soon) to raise funds for production equipment will be updated monthly. Regular blogs and short vlogs (video messages) will be ongoing in the Patreon campaign too. The curation, promotion and management of the Ecovillage Film Festival is also an integral component. Other commissioned events, such as an auxillary “eco film festival for Going Off Grid festival (late 2020) will also be added into the promotional mix – and mainstream media will be engaged.
Cross promotion of the different aspects of the online community platform engages various audience sectors, and has the added bonus of spreading exposure for adverstisers and event sponsors. The intention is for constant growth.

Regeneration, and also Permaculture, are central themes in Eco Village Voice Steve Cran has launched an innovative new initiative called the Centre of Advanced Permaculture at Lot 1, Crystal Waters Ecovillage. We follow developments of his courses and gardens, and feature him in videos, podcasts and webinars. Apart from an article in Issue #1, there will be a video conversation in Issue #2 with Steve joined by Morag Gamble – a world-renowned permaculture educator, author and long-term resident of Crystal Waters.
Many ecovillages feature gardens and design principles based on permaculture, and Eco Village Voice intends to present news and networking on a local and global scale. Incidentally, Crystal Waters was the world’s first permaculture designed ecovillage.

Ecovillage Film Festival 2020 The Ecovillage Film Festival celebrates the rise of sustainable communities, using appropriate technology to combat the effects of climate change, to refocus on care for the planet and promote a healthy lifestyle for the future of humanity. A project of Eco Village Voice, the first event was held in Maleny, QLD, Australia on 3 November 2019. An enthusiastic audience enjoyed 8 hours of documentaries and interviews about ecovillages around the world. Many guest speakers also gave presentations about ecovillages in-between videos throughout the day. The feature documentary “Crystal Waters – 30 Years On” was introduced by the filmmaker, Michael Ney accompanied by author, facilitator and long term resident of Crystal Waters, Robin Clayfield - followed by Q&A. This format worked well – not overloading people with too many films and the speakers were able to answer any questions which arose. Plans for future events are changing. Due to the current limitation on public gatherings, we are planning on hosting “virtual” events using an online platform for the film festival. Leading up to the “Judging Day” speakers will be invited to participate from home via video. Then, later this year, the second year’s film festival will be presented on the online web platform to a global audience.
We are inviting filmmakers to submit films to 3 categories: Feature = Over 55 minutes Television = Between 15 and 55 minutes Short = Less than 15 minutes .
We are delighted to announce some of our JUDGES – Damon Gameau (2040), Velcrow Ripper (Occupy Love, Scared Sacred), Helen Iles (Ecovillage Pioneers, Lammas), and also Morag Gamble (Permaculture Education Institute & Ethos Foundation). Stay tuned for more news.
