Patras 23/9/18 Sunday morning

Sketching in Patras. Great! I arrived earlier than the time set with the students. It is 10:20 now. So I decided to warm up by sketching the Catholic church St. Andrew. The sketch with the dark foreground was inspired by Piranesi. As I was Sketching the bell tower, The bells started ringing! Perfect timing! As if the bell tower was saying â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;Hey, I know that you are sketching me. But, I am not just a pretty bell tower! Listen to my bells too!â&#x20AC;&#x2122; Indeed their sound was magical! Πάτρα 23/9/18 Πολυκατοικίες στην πλατεία Γεωργίου... Προσοχή! Στο βάθος αδιέξοδο... Σοφία Σουβατζόγλου

Πάτρα 23/9/18 Ανάμεσα σε δύο ψηλότερα κτήρια στην Αγ. Νικολάου βρίσκω κάτι κλασσικό... Απλή, λευκή όψη... Μία σκιερή στοά... Συμμετρικά ανοίγματα... Κι ένας εξώστης σου μιλάει!

Στη στοά του Θεάτρου ‘Απόλλων’ αρχίζω και ξεχωρίζω την προοπτική και το φως! Σοφία Σουβατζόγλου

Πάτρα 23/9/18 Επειδή ο καλύτερος τρόπος να καταλάβετε και να νιώσετε την ατμόσφαιρα και την ενέργεια της ημέρας εκείνης είναι το συναίσθημα, θα παραθέσω λέξεις και φράσεις που εγώ ένιωσα. Μια κολώνα μπροστά μου. Πώς δεν την είχα δει; Το πρώτο σκίτσο της σκιάς της μίας πολυκατοικίας πά νω σε άλλες ήταν το πρώτο και ίσως και το καλύτερο. Ήθελε όμως λίγο περισσότερη ώρα. Ήθελα αυτή τη φορά να συνδυάσω πενάκι και μολύβι

Η μυστηριώδης λεπτομέρεια.

Ανυπομονησία, λαχτάρα, κοίταξα τα σκαλιά, κάθισα, ένα μολύβι, ένα πενάκι και το μάτι μου, το άλλο ήταν κλειστό για να μετρώ, υπέροχο συναίσθημα μα ο χρόνος είχε σταματήσει, το βλέμμα καρφωμένο, αφηρημένο στις σκιές.

Εκεί κοιτούσα ώσπου να έρθει η βοήθεια του δασκάλου, άλλη οπτική, γνώση βαθιά και παύση μέχρι την επόμενη φορά… Παναγιώτης Κίννας

Η γυναίκα στο σκίτσο μέσω της σκιάς. Χαιδεύει όλη την ύπαρξή της.

Με τη βοήθεια του καθηγητή βγήκε το προοπτικό. Φοβερό το μάτι του δασκάλου! Πραγματική προοπτική!

Πέρασε η ώρα αλλά μου άρεσε το κτίριο. Κλασικό αλλά από κάτω έχει μαγαζιά. Με ενόχλησε αυτό και έφυγα για αλλού. Κάθισε εδώ αλλά δεν μου άρεσε και τόσο η προοπτική. Γιατί έχουν βάλει ομπρέλες; Ωχ όχι!

Λεπτομέρεια από τις καλές. Άκου και θα δεις και εγώ έβλεπα ένα τέμπλο με τούβλα και σοβά να έχει σπάσει.

Πάτρα 23/9/18 Πρώτη απόπειρα προοπτικής στη στοά του Θεάτρου. Τα λάθη της κούρασης εμφανίζονται μόλις την επαληθεύω με τις βοηθητικές γραμμές και το σημείο φυγής... Μοσχούλα Μαυρίκη

Πάτρα 23/9/18 Οι στοές της Πάτρας είναι εμπνευσμένες από τις στοές στη Μπολόνια της Ιταλίας (πρώτο πανεπιστήμιο στην Ευρώπη).

Όταν μας λένε ότι είμαστε καλοί στο σχέδιο εννοούν στην ουσία ότι έχουμε καλό μάτι. ‘Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain’.

Προοπτικό: το σημείο φυγής είναι στο ύψος του ματιού. Ρυθμός αύξησης ή μείωσης από την πραγματικότητα σε επαναλαμβανόμενα στοιχεία. Ελένη Κοκκίνη

Patras 23/9/18 Sunday morning Sketching in Patras with the students. Great! I sketched for them to explain how the perspective works. How to set the Vanishing point, the horizon line, and then layout the drawing. Then, how the perspective and the shadows work together. In effect you draw what you see, but you can also use the perspective regulating lines to make sure the lines all merge to the vanishing point. Patras 23/9/18 Sunday morning Sketching in Patras on Ag. Nikolaou street. I loved this spot in the city because from one side you see the fortress hill and on the other you see the sea. It reminded me of Aristotelous street in Thessaloniki. The arcades were similar too. Great urban space! The sky was added later.

TRAVEL SKETCHBOOK : PATRAS By ELIAS V. MESSINAS, ARCHITECT and ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS from the UNIVERSITY OF PATRAS, GREECE The sketching expedition took place on Sunday 23 September 2018. A group of approx. 20 students joined the first half of the session at the central square of Vas. Georgiou A’. The session started with a warm-up drawing, and then a variety of themes including perspective.

Later in the day, a group of approx. 10 students spent about one hour at the corner of Maizonos and Ag. Nikolaou sketching a corner building, a view of the street, and building details.
