Minkies Deli not only offers the finest brunch in the area, but has been hailed ‘the coolest deli in North London’ by Vogue. The hugely popular pizzeria Sacro Cuore fires its mouthwatering creations in 465˚C wood-fired ovens following the strict guidelines of The True Neapolitan Pizza Association. Being a stickler for the rules has done it no harm either; it doesn’t take bookings, so you should be prepared to wait for a table. Fortunately, they do takeaway as well. Austen’s Smokehouse brings another non-native but authentically crafted flavour to Kensal Rise. Within its dilapidated-feel interior, it offers an array of classic pit barbecue dishes, slow-cooked in American smokers over oak, pecan and hickory. The fact that it’s part-owned by DJ Yoda just adds to the area’s hip status. These are just the tip of Kensal Rise’s culinary iceberg. The gastro-pubs, Paradise by Way of Kensal Green and The Chamberlayne sit alongside Comptoir Mezze’s Moroccan and Lebanese creations, Arthur’s Café’s full English breakfasts, Dock Kitchen’s canal-side modern European cuisine and countless others. Come the evening, Kensal Rise swaps young families for those seeking the area’s more exotic charms. Paradise by Way of Kensal Green, on Kilburn Lane, is arguably the heart of the area’s nightlife. Living up to its name in every way, this bohemian enclave offers a heady mix of DJs, live music, cabaret, private dining and fine cocktails in stunningly shabby chic surroundings. Head in the other direction and you’ll arrive at The Shop NW10. It’s said that this bar was the first in London to serve the now staple jam jar cocktail. It still does and while the rest of London caught up on the trend, they focused on making sure they had the best cocktails around. Be careful though, nearly everything here is for sale – the art, the chairs, the light fittings – so you could wake with a sore head and a new addition to your home. Parlour is another highlight. Seamlessly blending a café, restaurant and bar, you could quite easily spend your entire day here. Impeccable service combined with a superb drinks menu make it a real local favourite. The developer operates a policy of continuous product development and reserves the right to alter any part of the development specification at any time. Where brands are specified the developer reserves the right to replace the brand with another of equal quality or better.
