Ultra Large Container Ships can call at our terminals 24/7 without any restrictions. In Rotterdam, ECT operates three deep-sea terminals: the ECT Delta Terminal and the Euromax Terminal Rotterdam are directly situated on the North Sea while the ECT City Terminal is located further inland. All terminals combine optimal service levels with unparalleled access to and from the European market.

Rail connections The ECT Delta Terminal and the Euromax Terminal Rotterdam at the Maasvlakte both have their own rail terminals which are in operation 24/7. The ECT City Terminal has access to a round-the-clock rail facility as well. The terminals constitute the starting point and terminus of the Betuweroute, the 160-kilometre-long dedicated freight rail link between Rotterdam and Germany. No other port can match such a unique infrastructure with ample capacity for sustainable growth. In Germany, at DeCeTe in Duisburg, the Betuweroute directly connects to Europe’s extensive railway network.
Hundreds of shuttle trains Each week, ECT handles hundreds of shuttle trains. All destinations in Germany and beyond can be reached within a short span of time. Furthermore, the liberalised rail market ensures that there’s always a competitive range of service providers to choose from. In addition, European Gateway Services operates own rail connections together with partners to and from inland terminals in, for instance, Venlo in the Netherlands, Duisburg in the heart of Germany’s Ruhr area and Nuremberg and Munich in Bavaria.

Feeder connections As the first and last port of call in Europe for many global deep-sea services, ECT is the perfect feeder hub. From the ECT terminals, there are daily feeder connections to and from ports in the UK/Ireland, on the Iberian peninsula, in the ScanBaltic region, Russia and many other locations throughout Europe. Companies can choose between various independent feeder operators.
Fast turnaround times ECT efficiently handles feeder vessels at all its deep-sea quays and at the dedicated Delta Barge Feeder Terminal which forms an integral part of the ECT Delta Terminal complex at the Maasvlakte. The fact that the ECT Delta Terminal and the Euromax Terminal Rotterdam are directly situated on the North Sea means that turnaround times are more than competitive.

Straight into Europe
The added value of European Gateway Services Companies looking for optimal efficient, reliable and sustainable hinterland transport opt for European Gateway Services, a subsidiary of ECT. Shipping lines, logistics service providers and shippers alike can benefit from highly frequent rail and barge connections between Rotterdam and a rapidly expanding network of inland terminals in the European hinterland. European Gateway Services brings the deep-sea terminals of ECT in Rotterdam right up to everyone’s front door. Companies can leave the entire hinterland transport (or a segment thereof if so desired) up to European Gateway Services. After having been discharged from the deep-sea ship, containers are directly moved to one of the participating inland terminals throughout Europe by train or barge. The customer can next collect the containers whenever he wants or have them delivered just-in-time. Of course, European Gateway Services provides a similar service for export cargo from the hinterland to the port of Rotterdam as well.
Inland terminal services All the inland terminals in the European Gateway Services network offer a wide range of supplementary services, such as temporary storage, bonded warehousing, pre-transport and post-transport by truck, fumigation services, empty depot and more.
