Whether you know it or not, you just may find it a little easier to save some of your cash....today. Here is some friendly free advice on how to save some money and improve your cash management skills. 1.Gas Tank-Always keep it full. Easier said than done. With the price of gas a lot of us are just trying to keep our tanks full enough to get us to where we need to go. However, that may be costing us more money that we are saving over the long haul. Gas does evaporate. If your gas tank is full most of the time, less gas will evaporate. Consequently, you will have to visit the pump. Fewer visits to the gas station means less money spent there. 2.Dry Cleaning-Eliminate the weekly trips you make to your dry cleaner. It may not seem like a lot, but $2.00 a shirt does add up over time. Schedule a half hour each week and pull out your iron. It really doesn't take that much time out of your day to press a pair of pants. A little extra time each week and one less stop on the way home will save you money. On the other hand, if you have a close personal relationship with your dry cleaner, this may not work for you. 3.Vending Machines-Stay away from them. At work or at play, avoid these money eating machines at all cost. Buy your sodas and chips from the grocery store at the beginning of the week and keep them handy at work. A 150% markup on a can or bottle of soda just isn't something you need to be involved in. Don't let peer pressure force you into it either. Your wallet just doesn't need an intervention. 4.Poor Co-Workers-If you are not careful, some of the people (that, by the way, are not poor) you work with will take your more of your money than the above mentioned vending machine. You know, the co-workers that never seem to be carrying their wallet or purse. Or have a bill that is "too large" to break. Simply turn the tables on them. Don't carry cash. That way, even when you are in the "giving" mood, you won't be able to provide them with cash. And, as an aside, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a "giving" person. 5. Do It Yourself-Yes, I know, this is not rocket science. But it is basic math. And although we all know it, we are not using the skill. Making our own breakfast and lunch and taking it to work can significantly reduce the amount of money you spend today and every day. Eating out sure is satisfying. But also costly. And drinking coffee from a shop coffee is also satisfying. This too, is costly. Cut back or eliminate both and count the amount of cash you save. Now that is really satisfying. Saving cash. Not always easy. But as one of the essential cash management techniques that you must use, it can be done. And it can be done today.
