Hughes The best landing page designs focus on 3 things, what is the offering, why would I care, what do I need to do. If your landing page can do these three things it will be quite successful. A Landing Page is not a website. It is a single page with a specific task. This task is to get your visitor to click on a specific thing or to fill out a form. Landing page designs are specifically focused on getting your customer to click the link. Everything else on the page is moot. Everything should be designed to direct the desired result. There are several things that make your landing page designs work. Visual impact is the most important. Studies have shown that your landing page has to capture the customer's attention within the first 5 seconds. If you can positively impact your customer in this amount of time your success rate will increase exponentially. This should be done with an eye catching graphic. A picture in the right margin will have the most effect for this impact. An informative header will also increase the visual impact. Make these attractive and use blues and greens for the main color. Blue and Green create trust, red while a strong color will create a negative impact. The next concern when laying out your landing page designs is the content. A strong headline that identifies what is being offered should be located just below the header, it should be biased slightly to the left of center and should be bolded and in a larger font than the remained of the page. Color choice should be black or blue on a white background. Colors other than the high contrasting blue or black will lower the impact of the heading and my decrease the effectiveness of the heading. Following the headline the content of your landing page designs should have a highlighted list. Bullets or check marks to enhance the list items will increase the visual impact of this section. The content should be clear and simple. Keep the words short and sweet. Use jargon wherever possible as this will increase your connection with the reader and increase the impact of your content. The last item that needs to be included in your landing page designs is the call to action. This is the link or sign up. This should be surrounded by whitespace if possible, It should be highlighted in bold font and larger than the surrounding fonts. If a link, blue is the preferred color with an underline delineating the link. The link should be associated with a call to action that tells the reader what to do with the link. Click here, follow the link for more information, fill in the information for your free bonus, are all call to action items. Make sure that this is above the fold. All of this information and the call to action should be visible without scrolling down the screen. If additional information is available this can be below the fold but the main call to action should be visible without scrolling.
