Visit: Airfare Secrets Revealed ==== ==== I have noticed that there are a lot of travel articles for overseas locations but I have to admit I like traveling the road less traveled in the good ole’ United States. If you see a lone rider on the open road just wave and smile. Yes I know one should ride with a buddy but I find that many times I just want the open road, me and my wheels, a kind of cathartic I need from time to time ever since VietNam. I am here in Mississippi doing project management and brought my bike with me to travel the highways and byways in the south east. What a hoot, found a lot of new friends and people to ride with. I do want to tell you about this bar and grill I found in Alabama. The place is called the Rattlesnake Saloon known for its excellent burgers, and cool ambiance. It is built in a tiny valley or “draw” as they call it and is actually inside the overhang and cave of a rock cliff. One of their offerings is a fried apple fritter which is excellent and travels well in a saddlebag; I can’t get enough of them. The saloon is in north east Alabama just south of the town of Cherokee on road number 33. There are no signs pointing the way, the only advertising is word of mouth and a website. Overnight accommodations are available at the saloon and also RV parking is available. Eventually they will have more going on such as horse trails for riding. If you happen to get there on Friday or Saturday nights you will find a band playing and upwards of 600 patrons enjoying the cuisine and music. To get to the Rattlesnake Saloon Take Highway 72 east from the Natchez Trace National Parkway at mile post 199. Go about 8 miles and take county road 33 south for about 7.2 miles and see the parking lot on your left. The turn off on the parkway is about 215 miles south of Nashville, TN. The parkway is a delightful country ride from Nashville to Natchez, MS of about 444 miles. I do like to see what is at the end of the road, or over the next mountain. It just seems as though every time I find a new road to travel, several more pop up. I do keep a log at the drive by ride and if you find the time, please tell me about your favorite ride or drive as it may be.
